7 Remotus Jupiter Remotus Jupiter is our standardized remote-control product line developed for most of today s industrial cranes and overhead cranes, used, for example, in manufacturing, steel works, mines, and processing industries. The system has preprogrammed selections and work on the general frequency bands, so users can easily install and start up the system. The Jupiter line offers various transmitters and receivers to choose from depending on usage area. One is a simpler version, which handles three movements at two speeds and contains an extra function. The other, a more sophisticated version, which handles three movements at two speeds, and contains three extra functions. You can order joystick and hand held transmitters for both versions. Robust and reliable The Jupiter product line is built to tolerate tough industrial environments. Environments that are often plagued by drastic temperature differences, dust, vibrations, oil, and humidity. Design and material selection set the stage for making these new Åkerströms products more rugged than ever before. Enormous emphasis was put on ergonomically designed transmitters to facilitate ease of use. Secure radio transmission Jupiter enables top security during radio message transmissions. The receiver has double micro processors that monitor each other. A message is checked before the relay function goes out into the receiver. Command errors don t occur and security increases. Diagnostic testing is done during operation. The system uses the general frequency bands at MHz, MHz and MHz. Easily configured and functional Configuration of button functions, frequency, shutdown time, and remaining or momentary functions, is easily done from the pushbuttons. Users can configure the transmitters via computers with ordinary terminal programs. And they can store Jupiter transmitter configurations on a configuration information module (CIM) card. That way, a transmitter s configuration can be effortlessly moved to another transmitter, for example, when a reserve transmitter replaces the current transmitter. The CIM card is secured during operations but easily accessible via a service shutter. The transmitters are robust and designed with large, clearly, visible, rugged buttons. A protective rubber bumper makes them extra shock resistant. Jupiter 8B/10B have 8/10 two-stage buttons that enable double functions for each pushbutton. Jupiter 10B has a trolley selection function. Jupiter 9B RS has 9, two-stage buttons and a rotary switch, and can be programmed for up to 18 functions in 4 positions. LEDs on each button indicate selected function and a separate LED indicates storage battery status and operation. The transmitters are available with Nordic* or DIN* symbols. 13 REMOTUS Jupiter Receivers Jupiter receivers are available in two models; RX131 and RX160. The receivers has preprogrammed, dial-selected applications for various standard cranes and objects. Siren is optional. The RX160 receiver is equipped with a multi-transformator and has an analogue input for reading selected values, in for example a display. The receivers have double processors that monitor each other. A message is checked before the relay function goes out into the receiver. Command errors don t occur and security increases. 15 Remotus MERCURY Remotus Mercury is our customized remote-control product line for industrial cranes and overhead cranes, used, for example, in manufacturing, steel works, mines, and processing industries. These products are easily adapted to your operation s specific requirements. The Remotus Mercury line provides the necessary safety, security, and reliability required for wireless control in challenging industrial environments. Remotus Mercury products can be easily modified and customized for your exact needs. Flexible and secure frequency management The systems are used on the general frequency bands at MHz, MHz and MHz. Licensed bands alt 2.4 GHz on request. Several functions enable automatic transmitter and receiver connections on an available frequency and sharing the same frequency band. A user can maneuver several objects from the same transmitter (multi-crane operation). And several users can maneuver one object from several transmitters (multi-operator operation). 17 REMOTUS Mercury Joystick transmitters The Remotus Mercury joystick transmitter line is used for everything from standard solutions to highly sophisticated machine control. The transmitters are available in three models depending on required functions and environments in which they ll be used. The transmitters are adapted for tolerating tough conditions, such as drastic temperature differences, dust, vibrations, oil, and dampness. The joystick transmitters can be equipped with up to four joysticks with possibility operating up to eight movements. The Remotus Mercury joystick transmitters are equipped with two to four joysticks for controlling up to eight movements. 26 REMOTUS Mercury System examples The Mercury systems are very user-friendly and customizable. It is possible to maneuver several objects from the same transmitter (multi-crane operation), which makes it easier when for example you need to lift multiple objects simultaneously. It is also possible to maneuver the same object from several transmitters (multi-operator operation). An advantage if you want to control, for example, an object where you have no oversight over the driving distance. You can therefore hand over the control between two transmitters. The Mercury system is a secure and reliable system where you by an active choice always ensures that only one transmitter is in control of each object at a time. 27 REMOTUS Mercury Link systems We offer different link systems for wireless data transmission between two or more units within a large area or when direct connections are not possible. With Mercury link systems, you avoid expensive cable installations. REMOTUS Mercury DP-Link The Remotus Mercury DP-Link is a system for wireless data transmission between two Profibus DP busses. The system enables data communication between two busses within a large area or when direct bus connections are not possible. The units are connected as DP slaves to the Profibus DP field bus. Transmission time for 16 bytes-in and 16 bytes-out in both directions over the radio link is less than 100 ms. The units must be connected to both nodes in a Profibus DP master to enable data communication. There s a serial asynchronous communication channel for communication, for example, with scales and position sensors. The Remotus Mercury DP-Link has a powerful, built-in programmable logic controller (PLC) system that handles sophisticated data processing. It also has 14-bit address, which enables 16,384 addresses; serial, asynchronous communication channel for communication, for example, with scales and position sensors; a built-in monitor for test and parameter settings, and indicators of different functions in the system (e.g., status and outputs). 1 or 2 way communication REMOTUS Mercury RX-Link Remotus Mercury RX-Link is a system for wireless I/O data communication between two or several units within a large area or when direct connections are not possible. The Remotus Mercury Mini controller is mounted on the backside of an adapted ergonomical seat and the operating unit is mounted on the armrest. The receiver is adapted to a number of functions. By using the equipment the operator can easily control the crane while sitting comfortably. It is an ergonomically correct alternative which provides a comfortable, individual driving position. The seat and control units are available in different versions and can be adapted to your individual requirements. The signals are transmitted by cable or radio. 33 Remotus 7000 Remotus 7000 is our system for hoists and other applications with up to 14 functions within for example metal and processing industries, steel works, and mines. The system has preprogrammed selections and work on the general frequency band. So users can easily install and start up the system. The system consists of a hand held transmitter, a receiver, and a charger. As our other standard Remotus products the Remotus 7000 system is kept in stock.
