3 1. Summary Magnetic Field Survey Meter Magnetic Field Survey meter can measure the Magnetic Field released in frequency range 30Hz~2kHz among electromagnetic waves Measurement Precision Magnetic Field Survey Meter is able to measure strength of electric field sensitively and accurately by output as V-RMS through micro-processor What can do this? Magnetic Field Survey Meter can measure the ELF range and guarantee the accuracy through 30Hz(the lowest frequency range) General Information & About these Measuring Instruments These are developed to be available for experiment and education, expanding their frequency range to be sensitive and also easier to use at a reasonable price due to lower costs by technical innovation. These are indispensable to our lives to accurately measure the release of electromagnetic fields from every electronic appliance to be used in general for 50Hz/60Hz. They are also developed to be convenient for the general user who does not understand electromagnetic fields and are equipped with an ON/OFF switch. Interface Improved These are made in accordance with international rule and have been standard and designed to have an interface for the user to handle easily, being based on simplified and improved human engineering. High sensitivity and Detection Coil type magnetic sensor Magnetic Field Survey Meter, an improved development based on Faraday's electromagnetic induction law, are equipped with high sensitivity and search coil type one-axis sensors. Its sensors with two Helmholtz coil of diameter 50cm are calibrated precisely by generating device of magnetic field and are greatly guaranteed to the user. 2. Characteristics Improvement of measurement accuracy. Stabilization of measuring data indication. Sensor sensitivity improved by high sensitivity and search coil type one-axis sensor. Stabilization of measurement output. Switch ON/OFF type convenient for user. Warning notice on battery exhaustion to guarantee accurate measurement. Availability for long-term usage, as compact circuitry helps to conserve battery power. Instrument size is minimized due to compact circuitry. 4. Measurement Unit The measurement units o the magnetic field are expressed by ma/m, Gauss, Tesla. Among these
5 units, mg and μt are being used in general while scientists prefer UT. The conversations of units are expressed as below 1T = 10,000G 1mT = 1,000 ut = 800A/m 1G = 1,000mG 1mG = 80mA/m 1mG = 10uT 5. 6 6. Measuring Method 6.1 Magnetic field Line of magnetic field is directional with size, shaped of closed circuit around current as Figure 6-1 and also direction of magnetic field is decided by right-hand screw law, and force is moved in the direction of the arrow. When this instruments sensor is being high sensitivity and direction coil type one-axis is to be positioned at a level of direction of current, the coil wound to sensor is formed of magnetic field and is to perceive strength of magnetic field. The strength of magnetic field is measured with a distance of 30cm, except when articles which are used in close to human bodies are measured. For a proper measurement of Magnetic field sensor should be in vertical direction as Figure 6-1 with magnetic field. For example, measurement method for this instrument according to the direction if magnetic field to be perceived is as Figure 6-2 and Figure 6-3, when measuring the magnetic field in monitor.
7 Values of electromagnetic field come out differently because amounts of each electromagnetic field sensor is not constant Error of measurement that is affected by human bodies will not occur because electromagnetic elements have strong permeability in low frequency. Therefore, it is creditable to experiment by hands. Caution for measurement The strength of magnetic field at the measuring point involves not only the magnetic field at the measuring point, but also the natural magnetic field and surrounding magnetic field. When general electronic appliances are measured except articles to be used in close proximity to people like electrical blankets cellular phones and electrical shavers etc, the strength of magnetic field generated from electronic appliances concerned is a differential figure between measuring value of articles to be measured under swiching power-off and measuring value of articles to be measured under switching power-on in a distance of 30cm. 7. Operation Method Press the "power button" to operate it. Measure after about three seconds as time is necessary to minimize initial unstable conditions. Measuring articles to be measured in a distance convenient for user. During the measuring, user can hold the data by Hold button. Caution for operation Take care not to damage or force unreasonably as precise measuring instrument. Be possible to be large of tolerance range when measuring beyond specified temperature owing to constituent of precise circuit. Do not require after-service and guarantee accurate measurement figures, if decomposed freely by a user because assembly method is deeply related to measuring error. 8. What is Electromagnetic Field? Electromagnetic waves are a kind of electromagnetic energy with a wide frequency range along to frequency from D.C for 0Hz to γ-ray for 1022Hz and move 30Km per sound as the speed of light. Electromagnetic waves are classified to household power source(60hz), extremely low frequency(0~1000hz), low frequency(1~500khz), communication frequency(500khz~300mhz), micro-wave(300mhz~300ghz, G=billion) in accordance with frequency(number vibrating per second), and become high in order of infrared ray, visible ray, ultra-violet ray, χ-ray, γ-ray, and its destructive force become to be increased as much. When vibrations are generated from electricity, electric force(electric field, E) and magnetic force(magnetic field, H) are simultaneous in its surroundings, and undulation generated to change it periodically is known as electromagnetic wave. Electric field and magnetic field are
8 combined with each other not to be existed separately even though its properties are different. It is known for magnetic fields to affect the human body more than electric field because electric fields are able to pass easily through conductors but not all matter, while magnetic fields are able to pass easily through all matters. Electromagnetic waves are essentially generated to all appliances to apply electricity owing to property to be created every where being current. Among every kind of electromagnetic waves, these what affect humans are known as extremely low frequency(elf), ultra-low frequency(vlf), radio-frequency(rf) and micro-wave(mw). 8.1 Magnetic Field? Magnetic Fields among electromagnetic waves are created when electric charges are forced to each other. When electric charges are moving, current is running. Magnetic fields are like gravity being generated only when matter is moving, therefore magnetic fields will not be generated, if electric charges are not moving. Electric charge group to be moved in one direction in known as current. The more electric charges to move the more an electric current is generated and its size is indicated in terms of amperes. All current generates are formed by large current. Magnetic field forces electric charges to move, only to current and does not force electric charge not to move. Magnetic field also exists on the earth because electric charge to move and current is generated by nature. Earth's magnetic field to indicated needle of compass to northern direction is dependent on run of electric charge inside the earth's mantle, and current is terrestrial magnetic field are about 500mG~700mG, about 700mG in polar regions, and about 500mG in equatorial regions. 8.2 Electric Field? All the electric charges are surrounded with electric field and each electric charge is received by electric field. That is, it is called the place with electric characteristics. Total charges of certain objects determine voltage of objects, but the higher voltage is, the more charges carry. So the higher the voltage is, the stronger electric field forms. When unit charge is carried on a point in order that electric field's characteristics show as positive charge, the power working on this charge is called "Electric Field's strength. 9.
