14 Standard HALS in Agro Applications SABO STAB UV 62 is ideal for use in mulch films due to its non-interaction with carbon black and good chemical resistance. SABO STAB UV 78 is well suited for use in silage films and bale wrap because of its unmatched cost performance. 24 Fogging in Greenhouse Films Fogging refers to condensation of water vapor on the surface of a transparent plastic film in the form of small discrete droplets, which results from differences in surface tension between the water droplet and the polymer surface. Fogging related problems in greenhouse films include: o Reduced light transmission, slower growth and lower crop yields o Plant damage from burning due to lens effect of drops o Water dripping 2018 Sabo S.p.A. 25 Anti-Fog Additives for Greenhouse Films Function by migrating to the film surface, where they cause condensed water droplets to spread into a transparent film o Increasing the surface energy and reducing the water contact angle Fogging is rated visually on a scale of 1 (opaque) to 10 (clear) Examples of anti-fog additives include: o Conventional products SABO FOG MS-P (for LDPE and LLDPE films) SABO FOG PGS (for EVA films) o High performance product SABO STAT A300 unmatched long term anti-fog performance o Combinations of additives are often recommended to provide optimized short and long-term performance 2018 Sabo S.p.A.
