The UAT Antenna MUST be installed no less than 5 feet from any L-Band (Transponder, TCAS, TAS) antenna. Failure to adhere to this critical installation note will result in failure of the ADS600-B and void your warranty. The UAT Antenna MUST be installed no less than 7 feet from any Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) antenna. Failure to adhere to this critical installation note will result in failure of the ADS600-B and void your warranty. The ADS600-B does not transmit Target State or Trajectory Change messages as defined by RTCA/DO-8B.. Certified GPS Receiver (P/N and ) For ADS600-B part numbers and , the internal GPS is FAA TSO-C15c Class Beta 1 approved and it can be operated in Oceanic, En-route, Terminal, LNAV airspace, and Beta 1 applications. The ADS600-B may operate with either a TSO-C190 or TSO-C1 approved antenna for TSO- C15c Class Beta 1 operations. The recommended antenna is a DO-01 compliant antenna meeting the requirements of TSO-C190. Table - provides the recommended antennas for use with ADS600-B part numbers and The performance of the ADS600-B GPS SBAS Class Beta 1 Receiver is unaffected when operating in a satellite communications SATCOM environment. The performance of the ADS600-B GPS Receiver is compliant for SATCOM compatibility per DO-9D.. Uncertified GPS Receiver (P/N and ) The ADS600-B has an internal uncertified GPS WAAS receiver which does not meet the 1 CFR 91 FAA rule for certified GPS position source. If the ADS600-B is configured to use the internal uncertified GPS as the position source the ADS-B messages transmitted by the unit reports: A Source Integrity Limit (SIL) of 0 indicating that the GPS position source does not meet the 1 CFR 91 FAA rule. Note: The Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) for ADS-B Out Performance Requirements to Support ATC Service (1 CFR 91 FAA ) states that the compliance date for this NPRM rule is January 1, 00.. Surveillance Services Air Traffic Control (ATC) Surveillance Services are available through the UAT data link technology. To use these services there must be a single point of entry for the ATC assigned squawk code. A single point of entry allows the squawk code to be transmitted by both the Copyright NavWorx Page 16 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

onboard transponder and ADS600-B UAT. The ADS600-B supports the following control panel interfaces: If the aircraft is not transponder equipped, an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) display may be configured to provide the squawk code entry. The MX0, GMX 00, GNS80 (standalone and with attached transponder) and other displays may be configured to enter squawk codes to the ADS600-B. Compatible Transponders may be configured to act as a control panel for the ADS600-B. transponders are GTX 0, GTX 7, SL70/70R and TT1/TT. These If the aircraft is equipped with an older-style Mode C transponder, the TransMonSPE may be installed as the control input for the ADS600-B. The TransMonSPE (Transponder Monitor Single Point of Entry patent pending) is a standalone device that monitors transponder transmissions through a shielded RF coupler connection to an aircraft s transponder antenna coax cable. The TransMonSPE is attached to the existing transponder antenna coax cable of a Mode C transponder to pick up altitude and reply codes, decode the information and transmit it digitally for use by an ADS600-B..5 Flight Manual Supplement The Aircraft Flight Manual Supplement for installations of the ADS600-B must include the following operational limitations: When the transponder is set to Standby or OFF the ADS600-B stops transmitting ADS-B messages. The ADS-B ground stations only transmit Traffic Information Services Broadcast (TIS-B) and (ADS- Rebroadcast) ADS-R messages to participating aircraft. Participating aircraft are identified as aircraft transmitting ADS-B messages. When the transponder is set to Standby or OFF the UAT no longer receives TIS-B and ADS-R messages from the ADS-B ground stations because the aircraft is not participating in the ADS-B surveillance system. When the transponder is set to Mode-C the ADS600-B transmits the barometric altitude as the primary altitude and the geometric altitude as the secondary altitude in the ADS-B messages. When the transponder is set to Mode-A the ADS600-B transmits geometric altitude as primary altitude and barometric altitude as secondary altitude in the ADS-B messages. For all installations that include a traffic display the following must be included in the Flight Manual Supplement: Caution: Traffic shown on the display may or may not have traffic alerting available..6 Other Considerations The ADS600-B is used as an aid to visual acquisition of traffic and weather and it is to be used only for pilot and crew situational awareness. The ADS600-B does not relieve the flight crew of seeing and avoiding traffic, obstacles and weather. Installation of the ADS600-B does not relieve the pilot of consulting approved data sources prior to and during each flight. The ADS600-B is not a collision-avoidance-device. Any deviation from ATC clearance, given cockpit information derived from the ADS600-B, must be approved by ATC. The ADS600-B is a Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) that interfaces with MFDs, CDTIs and/or EFISs to display ADS-B, ADS-R, TIS-B and FIS-B products. It is the responsibility of the display manufacturer to render or not render these products. The ADS600-B receives ADS-R, TIS-B and FIS-B products from ADS-B radio stations. The content, or lack of content, in the product offerings is the responsibility of the FAA. Copyright NavWorx Page 17 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Appendix B ADS600-B Maintenance Port Tutorial Starting the UAT Console The UAT Console is a Windows PC application that is required for configuring the ADS600-B, versions.9.0 and above. The UAT Console communicates with the ADS600-B via a serial (RS) communication channel configured to 115,00 baud, 8 data, no parity, and 1 stop bit. The UAT Console is launched by either clicking the desktop icon from the Start Menu., or selecting UAT Console The UAT Console will request that the COM port that is connected to the ADS600-B be selected from a list of available COM ports. Figure B- 1: UAT Console Launch Screen Copyright NavWorx Page 68 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

UAT Console Communication with ADS600-B If the UAT Console is not communicating with the ADS600-B, an indicator will illuminate in yellow stating UAT NOT CONNECTED. This is an indication that the ADS600-B may not be powered up or that the serial line from the PC to the ADS600-B is not connected. Figure B- : UAT Console UAT NOT CONNECTED Copyright NavWorx Page 69 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

UAT Console Indicates UAT NOT CONFIGURED When the UAT Console indicates UAT NOT CONFIGURED, the UAT Console is communicating with the ADS600-B, but that the ADS600-B configuration is invalid. The ADS600-B is shipped from the factory with the UAT transmitter disabled and not configured. The UAT Console detects and reports this not configured state. To remedy this, the installer must configure the ADS600-B using the UAT Console. The ADS600-B is configured when the indicator turns green and indicates UAT CONFIGURED. The following sections describe how to configure the ADS600-B. Figure B- : UAT Console UAT NOT CONFIGURED Copyright NavWorx Page 70 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Configuring ADS600-B with UAT Console The sub-tabs under the Initialization Tab are used to configure the ADS600-B. The ADS600-B is not configured until the console indicator is illuminated in green indicating UAT CONFIGURED. At a minimum the installer must enter a setting for those fields that are highlighted in red. See Figure B-. Note: the UAT Console will not permit the ADS600-B transmitter to be enabled until the ADS600-B is fully configured and UAT CONFIGURED is indicated. Identification sub-tab The installer enters the Call Sign of the aircraft that has the installed ADS600-B. The UAT Console contains a database of the FAA aircraft registry. The Call Sign is used to retrieve the ICAO address of the aircraft from the registry. In the event, that the Call Sign is not found in the registry, the installer may override the ICAO address database search by selecting the Override ICAO Autofill check box and manually enter the ICAO address. Figure B- : UAT Console Identification sub-tab Copyright NavWorx Page 71 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Emitter sub-tab The Emitter sub-tab contains fields that describe the configuration of the aircraft (with the installed ADS600-B). The installer must specify the type of aircraft, the position of the GPS antenna used by the ADS600-B, and the length/width dimension of the aircraft. This information is transmitted by the ADS600-B in the ADS-B OUT message. Figure B- 5: UAT Console Emitter sub-tab Copyright NavWorx Page 7 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Inputs sub-tab The GPS source, pressure altitude source and type of control panel that are wired to the ADS600-B are selected from the Inputs sub-tab. Figure B- 6: UAT Console Inputs sub-tab Figure B- 7: UAT Console, Control Panel Popup Copyright NavWorx Page 7 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Displays sub-tab The ADS600-B may be configured with up to displays. Figure B- 8: UAT Console Displays sub-tab Figure B- 9: UAT Console TIS-A and ARINC 9 Displays Copyright NavWorx Page 7 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

Transmitter sub-tab To receive ADS-B IN (traffic) from the ADS-B ground stations the ADS600-B transmitter must be enabled. The UAT Console desensitizes the Transmitter radio buttons if the ADS600-B is not fully configured. Only when the indicator is illuminated in green and states UAT CONFIGURED will the UAT Console allow the installer to enable the transmitter. Figure B- 10: UAT Console Transmitter sub-tab Copyright NavWorx Page 75 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.

When the UAT Transmitter is enabled the TX indicator located on the blue bar will illuminate in green. Note: when configured, the transmitter control panel mode controls the UAT transmitter state. When in Mode A or Mode C the UAT transmitter is enabled. When in Standby/Off mode the UAT transmitter is disabled. Only when in Mode C will the UAT transmitter transmit a flight ID (squawk code). UAT Transmitter is enabled Figure B- 11: UAT Console Transmitter (TX) indicator illuminates green when UAT Transmitter is enabled Copyright NavWorx Page 76 of 88 All rights reserved. 77 Upgrading ADS600-B To upgrade the software on the ADS600-B select the Upgrade Tab and then click the Upgrade ADS600-B To Version x.x.x button. See Figure B- 1. Text will appear in the message window indicating that the software upgrade may take up to minutes. See Figure B- 1. During this period the UAT Console prevents the installer from changing the configuration of the ADS600-B. The screen of the UAT Console will print several rows of periods. When the upgrade is complete the UAT Console will indicate PLEASE CYCLE POWER. Power must be cycled on the ADS600-B for the new software to operate. See Figure B- 1. To verify that the ADS600-B is operating with the new software load view the blue bar that is underneath the menu bar. The software version is shown near the middle of the blue bar as SW Ver x.x.x. 79 View UAT Console Reports Select the Reports Tab to view ADS600-B reports. Status Messages are output every second. These messages report the state of the GPS, the state of the ADS600-B, the ADS600-B Software Version Number and the number of ADS-B and Uplink messages received. See Figure B- 15. Traffic Messages are displayed only when traffic messages are received. See Figure B- 16. Uplink Messages are displayed only when uplink messages are received from an ADS-B ground station. When the ADS600-B successfully receives from the GPS constellation, the geometric altitude is displayed in either the Primary or Secondary Altitude panels. Likewise, when the ADS600-B is wired to an operating pressure altitude source, pressure altitude is displayed in the Primary Altitude Panel. Note: when altitude is unavailable the -105 Feet will be displayed for altitude. Figure B- 15: UAT Console Reports Tab Copyright NavWorx Page 79 of 88 All rights reserved. Printed in the U.S.A.
