( 1)The output start-up time is proportional to Cref. : Be sure to mount the devices CIN and CO as close to the device terminal as possible so as to prevent oscillation. The standard specification of CIN and CO is.µf and 7µF, respectively. However, ajust them as necessary after checking., : These devices are necessary to set the output voltage. The output voltage O is given by the following formula: O=ref (1/) (ref is 1.2 TYP) The standard value of is 9Ω. But value up 1kΩ does not cause any trouble.

7 Low Power-Loss oltage Regulators PQ/PQ1/PQ/PQ1 ON/OFF Operation D1 ADJ D2 IN O CIN ADJ D2 R CO RL RL O' RD High : Output OFF C Low : Output ON Equivalent Circuit in OFF-state ON/OFF operation is available by mounting externally D2 and R. When ADJ is forcibly raised above ref(1.2 TYP)by applying the external signal, the output is turned off(pass transistor of regulator is turned off). When the output is OFF, ADJ must be higher then ref MAX., and at the same time must be lower than maximum rating 7. In OFF-state, the load current flows to RL from ADJ through. Therefore the value of must be as high as possible. O'=ADJ RL/(RL) occurs at the load. OFF-state equivalent circuit up to 1kΩ is allowed. Select as high value of RL and as possible in this range. In some case, as output voltage is getting lower(o<1), impedance of load resistance rises. In such condition, it is sometime impossible to obtain the minimum value of O'. So add the dummy resistance indicated by RD in the figure to the circuit parallel to the load. An Example of ON/OFF Circuit Using the 1-chip Microcomputer Output Port(PQ) <Specification> Output port of microcomputer OH(max)=. OH(min)=2. (IOH=.2mA) MAX. rating of IOH=.mA Output should be set as follows. 1.6 RL=2Ω(IO=.A) From O=1.2(1/)we get O=1.6. /=11.8 Assuming that F(max)=.8 for D2 in case of OH(min)=2., we get ADJ=OH(min) F(max)=2..8=1.6. From ref(max)=1. we get R=Ω If =1kΩ, we get =11.8 =11.8kΩ and IOH as follows, ingnoring RL (2Ω): IOH=1.6 ()/ =1.6 (1kΩ11.8kΩ)/1kΩ 11.8kΩ=.17mA Hence, IOH<.2mA. Therefore OH(min)is ensured. Next, assuming that F(min)=. for D2 in case of OH(max), we get: IOH=(.)()/ =.9mA which is less than the rating. Figure 1 shows the O C characteristics when =1kΩ, =11kΩ, R=Ω, IN=17, RL=2Ω, and D1=1S276A(Hitachi).
