2 1. INTRODUCTION This guide mainly concerns Installers. It explains in detail the setup of the DataCar Select launcher with Click Once function which enables the start of the DMS and of its external applications via DATAFIRST s DataCar Portal. The auto-deployed DataCar Select launcher is used to start the browser on DataCar Portal and on the applications or to enable the user to start an application that has already been used on his/her workstation, when the Internet connection is not available. The objective of DataCar Select is to start DMS and external applications offline in disconnected mode and thus ensure service continuity when DataCar Portal is not available. Caution: This guide replaces the following documents which have become obsolete with the release of v2.9 of DataCar Portal: Connexion via DataCar Portal pour lancer le DMS Guide technique et Utilisateurs (French only) Using PROTOCOL to start DataCar DMS via DataCar Portal (EN) 2. PREREQUISITE It is necessary to have the rights to access DataCar Portal using a Super Administrator account to update the parameters linked to the remote connection of the required company. 3. DESCRIPTION 3.1. Launch modes : Connection & Offline Connection mode: The connection to Internet is available the default Web browser starts and launches DataCar Portal. The classic operation is activated to start the User s applications. On the following page, we see the DataCar Portal homepage containing the tiles used to start the applications: Page 2 on 19

The User ID must then be input in the selected application, i.e. the DataCar Portal login and password. The data are then stored to be used in Offline mode. 3.2. Setup of company information in DataCar Portal The setup of the DMS SQL Server and DMS TSE Server fields must be defined in the company parameter to ensure the execution of PROTOCOL. 3.2.1.

The information is automatically generated via the company which is selected in a drop-down menu. CAUTION -- To ensure performance in downgraded mode, the company must be defined with the New Token option, enabling the DMS to store the User logins if the contact with DataCar Portal is lost. 10 A Path.ini file is initiated when connecting to the applications. To find this file, use the address hidden in the window of the launcher: Start DataCar Select: Expand the window downwards to see the file s access path: Then access the directory using that path. 12 3.5. Starting DataCar Select Once the installation is finished, the User must access the applications at least once to save the parameters. Should Internet and consequently DataCar Portal be unavailable, DataCar Select will ensure the connection to the applications. Start DataCar Select directly in Windows: OR The icon used to start DataCar Portal is created on the desktop. It also tests the Internet connection of the workstation. If no Internet connection is detected, the application launch window is displayed: Page 12 on 19

Modification of Internet Explorer options To avoid problems linked to the HTTPS and to the execution of PROTOCOL, verify the following option (especially in the case of IE 8): Internet Explorer options >> Security tab >> Custom level Change the value of the Display mixed content option from Prompt to Enable. Validate the use of PROTOCOL on an HTTPS-type page, WITHOUT an alert message: Page 13 on 19

4. DATACAR DMS ON TSE SERVER DataCar Select may be used directly on a TSE server. 4.1.

DATACAR DMS ON TSE SERVER DataCar Select may be used directly on a TSE server User account In that case, the Remote App option must NOT be selected in the DataCar Portal User account otherwise, DataCar Select will open on itself an RDP from the TSE when starting the application Installation of the application On the TSE server, the DataCar Select files are installed with the DMS. They are contained in is the [DATACARSELECT] directory located directly below the [PROG] directory. The DataCar Select files are updated by the DMS patches. (Do not use the installation URL on a TSE server.) Caution: The DMS version from which DataCar Select will be available has not yet been determined. To finalize the installation: Place the mouse pointer in the [../PROG/DATACARSELECT] directory and double-click on the DataCar Select executable. This creates the start icon on the Desktop and it also creates the localpath.ini configuration file. This is the file which must be modified to customize the DataCar Select configuration Starting DataCar Select Once the installation is finished, the User must access the applications at least once to record the parameters. If Internet, and consequently DataCar Portal, are unavailable DataCar Select will ensure the connection to the applications. If no Internet connection is detected, the application launch window is displayed Because the User is not in an RDP connection, there is no need to confirm the Widows IDs. Page 14 on 19

15 4.4. Using the DMS icon to start To accelerate the transition towards using DataCar Select, version of DataCar DMS enables the coercion of the connection to the DMS via DataCar Portal. When the User starts DataCar DMS by using the DMS icon, the DMS calls DataCar Portal to determine if a given company is linked to the SQL server (i.e. the server that is defined in the DMS icon properties). IF a company does exist for the SQL server AND the Only Portal option is enabled for such company, THEN DataCar Select starts and the User must connect with his/her DataCar Portal account OTHERWISE the DMS connection window is displayed. NOTE Failure to access DataCar Portal displays the DMS connection window. The DMS cannot check if the Only Portal option is enabled for the company. The DataCar Select downgrade mode is not available via the DMS icon. Direct use of DataCar Select is recommended. Page 15 on 19

16 5. SETTINGS FOR THE ERIS MOTORS DMS The «Eris Motors» DMS can be launched through DataCar Portal since version of the DMS. To do so, follow the steps described below Company settings In Internal administration and Settings, update the company to which the User is linked. Set the «IS NEW TOKEN» parameter to «True» : Page 16 on 19
