Pro Audio Headphone amplifier CS6A4983 Rev M Jan 2016 CS6A4983 Audio Power Amplifier The CS6A4983 is an integrated audio power amplifier with new Class A operation for high fidelity audio amplification with a minimum number of external components. The CS6A4983 can operate with up to ±12V power supply for high output power. However, to provide adequate voltage headroom to protect the device from breakdown, it is recommended to operate CS6A4983 at ±11V or lower to obtain HiFi quality audio with good performance stability. When the amplifier is working with a ±10V VDD, it can deliver 10Wrms on a 4 speaker in an output capacitor-less amplifier topology that is free from cross-over distortion. The amplifier only requires a few external components to form the feedback circuit to operate, which also provide the advantage of allowing user to implement feedback circuits for tonal and offset adjustment. The double current feedback sensing circuit will dynamically bias the CS6A4983 to drive large resistive and capacitive load with minimal power dissipation and without loss in fidelity. Such high performance amplifier not only minimizes the thermal noise problem, it also requires a small size heat sink and power supply to work with, and thus reducing the whole product size and cost. BTL power enhancement circuit topology possible The CS6A4997 is a high power audio power amplifier driver which only requires a pair of power MOSFETs and feedback network to complete a high power output high fidelity audio amplifier. The CS6A4997 has high output driving current and is compatible with external power BJT, MOSFET and IGBT (with reduced output) output stage. The CS6A4997 can operate up to ±24V and deliver 50W RMS power over a 4 speaker (with appropriate external transistors connected). The gain of CS6A4997 is adjustable through the resistor ratio of the negative feedback network, which also allows the implementation of a feedback circuit for tonal and output offset adjustment. The double current feedback sensing circuit will dynamically bias the CS6A4997 to drive large resistive and capacitive load with minimal power dissipation and without loss of fidelity. The capacitor less push pull output circuit is driven by a current assisted linear Class A amplification topology, and is free from cross-over distortion, and achieve very low total harmonic distortion. Canaan has gone another step beyond traditional new class A amplification topology by employing active load biasing that drags the crossover notch away from zero crossing where the human hearing is most sensitive, to the negative voltage region of the amplifier. A sensing resistor is placed in between the output driving transistors to provide current feedback information to achieve both current efficient audio driving, and also dragging the crossover point asymmetrically. The zero input biasing current and the new Class A low quiescent current push and pull output transistors are individually adjustable via an external trimming resistor to suit for the taste of the audiophile. The CS6A4976 has high output drive which allows BJT, MOSFET and IGBT or even a mix of these devices to be applied in the output stage. The amplifier has high energy efficiency and good voltage headroom control when compared to other MOSFET / IGBT / BJT based amplifier. When connected to a MOSFET based output stage, 30W 4 can be easily obtained with a +/- 18V supply. If high power is desired, two CS6A4976 can be connected in bridge-tied load (BTL) topology to obtain extra power gain without much circuit modification. As an example, a 4 can be obtained with 2 CS6A4976 with MOSFET based output stage driven by +/- 18V supply voltage. The CS6A4582 uses floating voltage driving topology that is capable to drive high voltage output stage, and is capable to output high driving current. The output stage can be constructed by external complementary BJTs or MOSFETs in symmetric push-pull output capacitor less topology. The floating voltage driving circuit of CS6A4582 can safely drive an output stage with ±45V supply voltage, which can deliver 200WRMS power over a 4 speaker. The gain of CS6A4582 is adjustable through the resistor ratio of the negative feedback network, which also allows the implementation of feedback circuit for tonal and output offset adjustment. The capacitor less push-pull output circuit is driven by a new Class A alike amplification topology, which is free from cross-over distortion, and can achieve very low total harmonic distortion. At the same time, the on-demand dynamic biasing current source will ensure enough headroom are provided to the output stage while achieving a low quiescent power for high power efficiency audio amplification. The CS6A4689 can operate with up to ±11V power supply for high dynamic range output. However, to provide adequate voltage headroom to protect the device from breakdown, it is recommended to operate CS6A4689 at ±9V to obtain HiFi quality stereo audio with good performance stability. When the amplifier is working with a ±9V VDD, it can deliver up to 2Wrms on a 16 headphone in an output capacitor-less amplifier topology that is free from cross-over distortion because of it s current driven Class A operation mode. The amplifier only requires a few external components to form the feedback circuit to operate, which also provides the advantage of allowing user to implement feedback circuits for tonal and offset adjustment. The double current feedback sensing circuit will bias the linear current driver within CS6A4689 to output enough current to assist the high quality Class A amplifier to drive large resistive and capacitive load with minimal power dissipation and without loss in fidelity. Such high performance amplifier not only minimizes the thermal noise problem, it also only requires a small size heat sink (or no heat sink at all), and a low current power supply circuit, which all add up to reduce the whole product size and cost without scarifying the audio quality.
