Company Profile (2) Nippon Signal Covers all products for Total Railway Signal System 5
Features of CBTC-RF 6
2. What is SPARCS? CBTC-RF CBTC Radio Frequency (RF) system uses radio frequency communication technology. What is CBTC? A continuous ATP system utilizing high-resolution train location determination, independent of track circuits; continuous, high capacity, bidirectional train-to-wayside data communications; and train-borne and wayside processors capable of implementing vital functions. (IEEE 1474) 7
8 Features of CBTC-RF [ Feature ] [ Advantage] Radio Ranging Immediate train detection after recovery from system down, Back up function during normal operation Wireless Network No signal cables Original wireless network (CDMA,FDMA,TDMA) Real-time and high security communication
9 Comparison with Conventional ATP (1) CBTC-RF technology largely shares common technical grounds with proven and conventional ATP plus unique features for train detection and block as new added value. Train Detection CBTC-RF Train Detection by radio ranging Conventional ATP Train Detection by track circuit Block Moving block Fixed block Fail Safe To ensure the fail-safe design principle Braking pattern Safety by dual CPU Redundancy On-board equipment generates the braking pattern Dual CPU of on-board equipment calculates brake pattern and continuously checks each other The system has dual systems for redundancy
10 System Configuration ATO system EI system ATS system CBTC-RF station computer (Control zone N) Train location ATP information Wayside and vehicle radio sets use same hardware. - WRS (Wayside Radio Set) / SRS (Station Radio Set): These radio sets are installed along track. SRS is cable-connected to CBTC-RF-SC installed in equipment room. - VRS (Vehicle Radio Set): This radio set is installed on the vehicle. ATP pattern is created with; ATP stop position distance Restricted speed Gradient information ATP information is created with; Route database Interlocking information Train location The following data are used for train location determination. - Radio ranging - Tachometer generator - Wayside Balise
11 Comparison with Conventional ATP Outbound message is propagating on each wayside Radio. Onboard VRS hears propagating data. Outbound message propagation
Train Detection 12
13 Train Detection Traditional way for CBTC-RF Principle of Train location determination by Wayside Balise and Odometer Detection of Wayside Balise for train position correction Calculation of moving distance by Tachometer generator P(Unique ID)+Xm Wayside Balise for position correction Unique ID X m from the point of wayside Balise Correction Point : P Current position : P + X m Train location can be corrected after getting position information by wayside balise.
Train location can be immediately determined without moving train, even when system start-up after recovery from system down. 14 Train Detection Additional function for CBTC-RF Wayside Radio Set Vehicle Radio Set Distance between radio sets
Train Detection Additional function for CBTC-RF Train location determination by radio ranging R1 R4 WRS1 WRS2 R2 VRS1 VRS2 R3 WRS3 WRS4 VRS: Vehicle Radio Set WRS: Wayside Radio Set Crossing point of two radio ranging circle on the railway means VRS position. 15
16 Train Detection - Concept Main Position correction by wayside Balise Tachometer position information Train location determination (High reliability and safety) Additional Radio ranging position information Comparison Miss match Emergency brake
17 Train Detection - Radio Ranging Train location determination Radio ranging Balise + Tachometer If the train location determined by Odometer + TG is out of the area colored in pink, emergency brake is applied.
Train Protection 18
19 Train Protection On-board System Speed Limit ATP profile 2 Braking Train Speed VRS2 VRS1 WRS Distance to a forward train 1 SRS CBTC-RF-SC Safety margin 1 On-board equipment continuously receives distance data of a forwarding train from CBTC-RF-SC via radio-sets. 2 On-board equipment generates brake profile according to the distance data of the forwarding train and supervise train speed
Track Record 20
21 Track Record Beijing Subway Line 15 Operation by CBTC-RF since December Line length: 31km (Whole line 38km: basement 24km / elevation 14km) * The rest of the line, 7 km will be opened in Number of Stations: 13 stations (Whole line 18 stations) Max speed: 100mk/h Number of car: 6 cars/train Mix mode operation 2.4GHz Band Moving Block
