The sensor shall be located on the ground wires between the bank and their connection to the distribution system neutral (thereby capturing all of the ground current in the wires from the bank), and secured with a staple above and below to the ground wires passing through the sensor. (If a 1kVA transformer is installed on the bank, refer to DCS , the two ground wires from the transformer must also pass through the neutral current sensor). Run sensor cable to the junction box. 4. Terminate the neutral sensor wires in the junction box (the black color wire from the neutral senor to the NS+ terminal with orange color wire to the control and the white color wire from the neutral sensor to the NS terminal with yellow color wire to the control). (NOTE: This wiring configuration is for consistency, The sensor orientation and the settings in the control will dictate current flow direction.) 5. Connect the color coded wires from the terminal strips in the junction box to the capacitor control according to the color code chart in the schematic. 6. The junction box/disconnect box, stock # includes 35 of pre wired liquid tight conduit, lags, and staples for mounting the junction box, disconnect box, and liquid tight to pole. Apply staples every 2. Excess liquid tight shall be coiled and secured to the capacitor bank frame. 7. Connect the red wire from the neutral current sensor to the CS+ terminal with orange wire to control. Connect the black wire from the neutral current sensor to the CS terminal with yellow wire to control. (NOTE: This wiring configuration is for consistency, The sensor orientation and the settings in the control will dictate current flow direction.) 9. Run control cable and sensor cable down pole together in close proximity. Cover both with 2 U Guard. See switched bank installation standard for more specific information. 10. If the control is operated in voltage control mode, the sensing voltage must come from a 34kV to 120V source. Minimum clearance from ground to the top of the control cabinet shall be: Over shoulder of roadway 15 feet In areas subject to vandalism 15 feet Over walkways where unduly obstructing the walkway 10 feet 5. Ameren I must use 2 10 crossarms. 6. For wiring diagram, see Standard oadbreak tool, Stock No , must be used to operate switches. 8. Neutral current sensor is not included on all model. Refer to DCS ** for material and connection in the junction box. The neutral current sensor shall be mounted below the bank. Both ground wires from the bank must pass through the center of the sensor. The sensor shall be located on the ground wires between the bank and their connection to the distribution system neutral (thereby capturing all of the ground current in the wires from the bank), and secured with a staple above and below to the ground wires passing through the sensor. (If a 1kVA transformer is installed on the bank, the two ground wires from the transformer must also pass through the neutral current sensor). Run sensor cable and terminate to the junction box. 9. Refer to DCS for fusing selection. 10. Capacitor banks have a C order point, and have at least 16 weeks lead time. 11. The minimum distance from the capacitor bank frame to the secondary line conductor is 1 6. If underbuild on pole, bank lower mounting bolt must be 24 or more above the underbuild line conductor.
