2 MOTVATON Auger and Telescope Array (TA) detectors Different sensitivity to channels: µ, e vs. µ, e, γ Different calibration, triggering techniques: MP vs VEM Different reconstruction techniques, quality cuts Experiments manage different systematic errors CLF doublet provides empirical mapping function for Auger North and Auger South stations in situ observation of TA events with Auger micro array can provide a direct cross calibration of experiments 2 of 14 OBSERVATORY
3 MOTVATON Goals: nterface with stations using hard link, run mini CDAS on SBC Record T2 for AS and AN stations Look at T2 time dependence Retrieve and interpret ADC histograms, other monitoring data from AS Construct local trigger for AS+AN pair, CLF TA station (and µ detector) Add TA station and µ detector Build T3 requests from TA global trigger ndependently reconstruct some shower parameters (such as particle density if we have single station) based on histograms using Auger analysis framework. Compare to TA observables found for a common event. Deploy 6 additional AN stations (micro Auger array) 3 of 14 OBSERVATORY

Both operational AS CLF RS-232 connection over custom Ethernet AN CLF RS-232+Network over standard Ethernet AN CLF CAN bus over custom Ethernet (unstable) TS-7250 V2 Single board computer stands in as SU for AS as well as mini CDAS for trigger decisions SBC and AN both connected to CLF network and TA WLAN network 6 of 14 OBSERVATORY
7 SBC REPLACEMENT socketcan driver for kernel Linux ts471xx unstable Also tested updated version: Linux-3.14-pxa16x, unstable Decided to build our own SBC (augersbc3) Raspberry Pi B+: $ 35 Canberry 2.1 (MCP2551): $ 40 Misc.: $ 20 Grad student labor: $ɛ Total cost: augersbc3=$95 vs TS7250-V2=$334 Raspbian stable 7 of 14 OBSERVATORY

11 SAMPLE CONCDENCES Many more coincidences observed than expected Poisson accidentals. GPS timing nominal on both stations. Width related to trigger time offset associated with trace readout for AN/AS electronics. Due to separation of doublet low energy events dominate: high rate of T2, 0.4 Hz, coincidences makes it difficult to build local T3 trigger T2TH 11 of 14 OBSERVATORY
12 M OTVATON R ELOCATON HARDWARE SOFTWARE DATA END C OLLABORATON MEMBERS C ONCLUSONS 9 months worth of muon T2 and AN T3 data (> 1 TB) Local trigger between AS and AN possible but difficult due to high coincidence rate Both stations (mostly) continue to send data wirelessly, daily T2 data available from Google Drive (secret URL) Completed installation of upgrade prototype housing for weather testing 12 of 14 OBSERVATORY
