10 One scenario for CPC At switch on: the terminal does not know the "current" configurations of the various networks, in particular the frequency bands associated to the Radio Access Technologies (RAT) Possible solution: the terminal performs sensing of the spectrum Problem: this may consume a lot of time and power if many bands are to be sensed CPC purpose: To broadcast data allowing a terminal to acquire knowledge of the available RATs in the surroundings, without having to sense the spectrum. 11 One use case for CPC At the airport, Operator #2: 2 preferred RATs, at frequencies F2.1 and F2.2 respectively Operator #3: 2 preferred RATs, with frequencies F3.1 and F3.2 respectively The mobile is switched on. The mobile, taking into account its user profile for example, chooses the operator #3 and the WLAN technology. It starts its connection on the corresponding frequency indicated by the CPC. 11
