2 1. The Outline KSC-5000 controls ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) which is to switch the electric load to two other power sources automatically. Generally, when the normal power ( A ) is blacked out the emergency power ( B ) is triggered automatically and if the normal power is recovered the load is transferred to the normal power. The load will be in neutral condition (3 position ATS) by tripping the load in both normal (or A ) and emergency (or B ) power in case of a certain situation. KSC-5000 uses LED and color graphic LCD so it is very convenient as the setting and switching process are displayed and moreover it has a special function to check the cause in case of tripping as well as 3 phase voltage checking and protection setting with the voltage quality. 2. Main Capabilities and Features of KSC ). Accurate and safe operation through high speed processing by Dual 32-bit MCU 2). Using FPU, the entire algorithm is calculated by floating point operation. 3). Displaying different data by TFT LCD. (1) Displaying 3 Phase voltage (2) Displaying time (3) Displaying frequency (4) Displaying voltage balance (5) Displaying voltage quality (Balance, THD, Harmonics) 3). Setting by user and easy to control - Korean and English language support - Setting and confirm by arrow key - Immediately checking by display with the color LCD and high brightness LED 4). Built-in circuit to switch the operation power source automatically - Normal power and emergency power in at the same time (extra terminal processing) 5). More protective capability - Protective setting can be optimized for use purpose by separating switch and trip setting respectively. Hysteresis algorithm adopted. 6). When the protective setting parameters are derailed, ATS trip items are high frequency, low frequency, over voltage and low voltage. Reverse phase, phase balance and THD will be alarmed. 7). Voltage input unit is processed by high sensing TRANS so the measurement and insulation performance are superior. 8). All 2 position and 3 position ATS are available with the simple setting. 9). Applicable to all single phase with 2-3 wire and 3 phase 3-4 wire types. 10). Maximum 4 cause types are saved/recorded when tripping and meantime the latest causes are displayed first. In this case, if the date and time were set already, exact tripping date and time can be identified. 2

External view and functions for each parts *Front View 1) Display (1) Color Graphic LCD - 3 phase voltage display - Time display - Frequency display - Voltage balance display - Voltage quality display (balance, THD, Harmonics) - Display of setting menu, machine info, trip info, etc. 2) Operation buttons (2) ESC and Back button - Previous menu or Initialization button (3) Mode and Enter button - Menu item (Selection and Run button) (4) Upper/Lower/Left/Right Arrow key - To select setting item and setting parameter. 6 3) LED (6) RUN LED (Green) - Normal operation of ATS controller. Blinking continuously. (7) Power LED (Red) - It indicates that the power source is putting in the controller. (8) ERROR LED (Yellow) - When Normal or Emergency power is derailed from the tolerance range, it blinks at both Normal (9) and Emergency (11) LED. If they blink together, it indicates the error. (9) LED to check Normal power in (Blue) - It lights up if the normal power (RSTN) is in. (10) LED to check the working condition of controller (KSC-5000) (Blue) - It means that the power has been switched to Normal power if it lights up. (11) LED to check the emergency power in. (Red) - It lights up if the emergency power (UVWN) is in. (12) LED to check working condition of controller (KSC-5000) (Red) - It means that the power has been switched to Emergency power if it lights up. (13) LED to check normal output of ATS (Green) - It lights up if AC220V is detected when ATS load (RN AC220V) is in. *Rear View 4) Terminal unit (Power source, voltage, input, input/output) (14) Terminal to check LP, LN ATS load output To put in ATS load RN AC220V. Set up Menu 1) Main screen - After initialization of the operating power source (about 2 sec), it moves to the main screen. - Main screen shows 3 phase voltage, frequency, balance, THD, harmonic system condition. - 3 phase voltage and single phase voltage can be checked using Left/Right button on main screen. (Single phase display as a default) *Note: A=Normal power. B=Emergency power Power In After (A or B) 2 sec button (A + B) button (First Power In screen) (Main Screen) (Right Arrow Key) 2) How to set - Select the set up menu using or button by pressing the mode button on the main screen and then move to the main screen by pressing back button after confirming the set up parameter using or button. - Sub menu is available for setting switching protection, tripping protection and working test. (Sub menu) However, for trip protection setting, it is impossible to access sub menu if the trip protection delay is OFF. (Moving to sub menu is impossible) Move to sub menu by pressing ENTER button. Choose the mode using button. button after finishing. Move to main screen by pressing Back (MODE button on Main Screen) Change the menu using button. (Sub menu available) 8

9 3) Setting Menu Operation Choose 2 position or 3 position. Set up according to ATS drive mode. Choose or by pressing, button. Wiring 3P 4W (default) 3P 3W 1P 2W (Single Phase 2 Wires) 1P 3W (Single Phase 3 Wires) - Accurate setting is required as it determines display and sensible voltage. Choose,,, by pressing, button. Rated frequency Configuration is required for accurate display since the internal algorithm is available at 50Hz or 60Hz (Default) to meet the standard of the corresponding country. Choose or by pressing, button. Wait to Normal, Wait to Emergency - Standby time to switch normal (A) or emergency (B) power. * In case of Over voltage, Under voltage, Over frequency and Under frequency for the switching protection parameter, it is standby until the trouble is removed. The time is applied after the stable power source has been put in. 1 sec ~ 99 sec can be set by pressing, button. Wait at Neutral Neutral standby time. Choose 1 sec if the neutral standby time is not used. 1 sec ~99 sec can be set by pressing, button. 9

10 Relay ON Time, Relay OFF Time - Relay contact point hold time to be output for ATS operation. 1 sec ~ 99 sec can be set by pressing, button. Emer. Aux. Relay - This is an auxiliary contact point to be output when switched to Emergency (B) power whether it should be used or not to display that the Emergency power is using. Choose or by pressing, button. Close Protect The parameter is to protect when ATS switches to A or B power. That is, if it is derailed from the setting range, it is not input. (Sub menu available) Configure High Frequency, Low Frequency, Over Voltage and Under Voltage ENTER button Press, button to set. Trip protection range: Over Voltage : 50V ~ 500V Under Voltage : 1V ~ 400V Over Frequency : 50Hz ~ 65Hz Under Frequency : 45Hz ~ 60Hz Open Protect Delay This is to trip if the setting range is derailed in "A" or B" power condition. Choose delay time for use and use or not. OFF, 5sec ~ 99sec by pressing, button. (In case of OFF, trip protection setting is DISABLE.) Open Protection To set allowable range when the Trip Protection Delay setting is ENABLE. ATS is not tripped if the Trip Protection Delay is OFF. ENTER button Press, button to set. Trip protection range: Over Voltage : 50V ~ 500V Under Voltage : 1V ~ 400V Over Frequency : 50Hz ~ 65Hz Under Frequency : 45Hz ~ 60Hz 10

11 Reverse Alarm To alarm by detecting the reversing phase. Choose On or Off. Choose or by pressing, button. Balance Alarm To detect and alarm the unbalanced power at 3 Phase power source. Choose allowable parameter. 100[%] Choose 0~100% by pressing, button. THD Alarm - Usually, less than 1% would be excellent for the power source quality. Choose 5% as usual and it is good that each of content should not exceed 3%. So it means that in normal case the first one will have to be highest at the Harmonic graph as displayed on LCD and the remaining should be on the bottom. Choose 0~100% by pressing, button. Language English and Korean languages are supported to display on LCD. Choose or by pressing, button. 11

12 Manual It can be switched to A or B Power manually. (Progress is displayed on the bottom of LCD) * The progress in case of AtoB (Switching from Normal to Emergency power) (R)=Relay Standby for switching to B > Open to A power (R) ON hold time > Open to A power (R) OFF hold time> Neutral standby time > B power (R) ON hold time > B power (R) OFF hold time * The progress in case of BtoA (Switching from Emergency to Normal power) (R)=Relay Standby for switching to A > Open to B power (R) ON hold time > Open to B power (R) OFF hold time> Neutral standby time > A power (R) ON hold time > A power (R) OFF hold time Choose or by pressing, button and then press ENTER to run. The progress is displayed on the bottom. Operation Test - Internal relay working conditions and LED conditions can be checked. It must be controlled by engineer or licensed expert since it may cause trouble for the entire system. ENTER Button Date/Time To set the date and time inside ATS controller. With the accurate current date and time setting, trip date and time can be checked. ENTER Button Change the mode by pressing button. Choose by pressing, button. Choose Year, Month, Day, Hour, Min and Sec. Information Displays firmware version, trip date and trip type. Up to 4 trip causes can be saved. 12

If it is out of the parameter, no further progress is made until it is stabilized. - Relay On/Off time will be applied to all in the same way. - Since there are two open relays 3 coil type can be used by connecting the open relay contact point in parallel. 8. Cautions in Use 1) The rated voltage to put the system in is AC 220 ~ 300V 2) Internal contact point is 250V/10A but the aux contact point is 250V/5A. Check the load current in case of the load connection. 3) Since the LED displays to check any trouble in the output of the system after switching, it is recommended to connect without fail before use. (Easy to check any trouble) 4) The built-in buzzer is alarmed for a certain time and then stopped in case of any trouble and you can see the cause of the trouble which is displayed on the bottom of LCD. 9. Definition of the Terminologies 1) A Power (Normal power) - Ordinary power source to be used for operation (Ex: Normal power) 2) B Power (Emergency power) - As an emergency power source, it may be a generator or UPS. 3) Harmonic A harmonic is a signal or wave whose frequency is an integral (whole-number) multiple of the frequency of some reference signal or wave. 4) FPU (Floating Point Unit) - It is a math coprocessor which is essential for use of FFT and THD operation internally. Significant figure below decimal point is automatically calculated by arithmetic operation and it is operated at high speed while reducing the calculation error. 13
