1 Dual 20 GHz, 43 Gbit/s Balanced Photoreceiver The Optilab, a dual balanced 20 GHZ linear photoreceiver, is a differential front end featuring high differential gain of up to 5000 V/W. With a high Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), the is ideal for both digital 43 Gbit/s DQPSK-application and for ultra-low noise analog applications. The photoreceiver contains a dual-surface-coupled coplanar waveguide PIN-photodiode (PD) array on a single chip and a linear Trans-Impedance Amplifier (TIA) within a 14-pin mini-dil package. The TIA provides a differential output voltage swing of up to 700 mvpp, therefore, the receiver is well suited for OC-768/STM-256 system operation up to 43 Gbit/s. Excellent electrical and optical phase propagation is achieved by a total skew of lower than 5 ps between the balanced signal paths. Contact Optilab for more information. 5 Dual 20 GHz, 43 Gbit/s Balanced Photoreceiver Evaluation Setup For ease of testing and integration of the, Optilab provides an evaluation setup, which includes an evaluation board and a power supply, and provides convenient access to all 14 pins and the data output ports. Utilizing a Zero-Insertion Force (ZIF) configuration, the can be mounted without the need of soldering as a user friendly testing solution. This allows for applying a single power supply. The evaluation board comes installed on a mounting base can be easily adapted to the user s setup.
