3 December Monthly Minutes Minutes for The Dec.17, 2004 meeting of LCARA was brought to order at 7:30p.m. by Pres. Brian Hellinger N8VUB. Brian congratulated and thanked Richard Emerick KC8ZZH for the good job he did with the newsletter. Bob Parker KB8ZXV made a motion to accept the minutes as printed in the newsletter, it was seconded by Ken Roberts KC8BQO. The motion passed. Joe Shapko N8OUB gave the treasurers report and the motion to accept it was made by Peg Wilson KB8NPA. The second was made by Bill Penfield W8GET, the motion passed. Everyone was welcomed to the annual Christmas dinner party and because of it we will be having a shortened meeting. Membership- None Trustee and Tech-None Red Cross and Skywarn- Ken reported that Art Mead has asked us to make a wish list of things that the club needs and turn it into him by next week. The Red Cross has come up with a grant and will be submitting our list to see if we can get any of the things we requested. Sunshine-.None Education- None Old Business- None New Business-Richard Emerick asked the members to make sure he has their up to date addresses for the newsletter. If anyone has anything they would like to see published they need to get it to Richard as soon as possible. 5 From the ARRL [arrl_prez] AMATEUR RADIO IN THE NEWS I was watching CNN channel yesterday about 6 AM and there was a discussion between Carol Costello and Chet Myers about the total lack of communications in certain areas of Indonesia and Sumatra. Chet Myers said (not a direct quote) something to the effect that probably Ham Radio operators were the only possible means of communication in this situation.. I have been trying to monitor 14,190 etc, but have not had too much luck hearing too much.
