Operating Manual 679.B Digital Multifunctional Power Meter with LCD Display and Optional Modules 6. Measurements 6.1. Voltages The overload limit for voltages is 120% of the rated voltage. Exceeding this limit may result in inaccurate measurement readouts Currents WPM 770 can only be connected via current transducers. The CT secondary rating must coincide with the rated current of the meter. The CT primaty rating can be programmed to A. The CT primary rating should not be smaller than the rated current of the meter. The overload limit for currents is 120% of the rated current. Exceeding this limit may result in inaccurate measurement readouts Powers The measuring range for active, reactive, and apparent power is ,9 MW/Mvar/MVA per phase or ,9 MW/Mvar/MVA in total Power factor The power factor is calculated and displayed in 4 quadrants. The display will only be correct if the phase sequence of the connection is correct Frequency Depending on the connection, the frequency is measured on different phases. With 3-wire connection, the frequency is measured on the L1-L2 voltage. With 4-wire connection, the frequency is measured on the L1 voltage. In the case of L1 outage, the frequency is measured on the L3 voltage. In the case of L1 and L3 outage, the frequency is measured on the L2 voltage Energies WPM 770 measures the energies bidirectionally in 4 quadrants. The polarities of the active and reactive energies (import/export, inductive/capacitive) comply to the powers according to the IEC standards. The energy values are counted up to ,9 kwh/kvarh. After that, the count restarts from zero

6.7. Demand WPM 770 calculates the demand for the currents of the 3 phases and for the total active, reactive, and apparent powers. WPM 770 supports two calculation methods: fixed block and moving block The demand time is programmable to 5 min, 10 min, 15 min, 30 min, or 60 min. With the "fixed" calculation method, no subinterval is required. With the "moving" calculation method, a subinterval of 1 min, 2 min, or 3 min can be programmed: Demand time Possible subintervals 5 min 1 min 10 min 1 min or 2 min 15 min 1 min or 3 min 30 min 1 min, 2 min, or 3 min 60 min 1 min, 2 min, or 3 min With the "moving" calculation method, the demand values are calculated as follows: Sum of an electrical parameter in the demand time divided by the demand time. The calculation is updated after expiration of the subinterval each. The following figure illustrates the calculation method: On the end of the subinterval, the calculation is updated. Calculation interval Demand time e.g. 10 min The demand value is the mean value in in the demand time. Time (minutes) WPM 770 stores the maximum demand of the powers and currents with time stamps in the non-volatile memory. The demand values are shown on the display and can be read out via RS 485. 17 Operating Manual 679.B Digital Multifunctional Power Meter with LCD Display and Optional Modules 6.8. Phase sequence WPM 770 identifies the phase sequence and shows it directly on voltage display (VOL). Examples: Correct phase sequence On L3, the incorrect phase L2 is present Phases L1 and L2 are exchanged Note: The phase sequence will only be identified correctly, if the voltages as well as the currents are powered 3-phase

7. Quality Analysis 7.1. Overview The following values are calculated in class B accuracy for assessment of the voltage, current, power, and energy quality: Unit Parameter Range Harmonics Total Harmonic THD of the phase voltages % Distorsion (THD) TOHD of the phase voltages % TOHD = even TEHD of the phase voltages % harmonics THD of the phase currents % TEHD = odd harmonics TOHD of the phase currents % TEHD of the phase currents % Harmonic Ratio (HR) Root Mean Square (RMS) Others HR of the phase voltages % HR of the phase currents % RMS of the phase voltages effective value RMS of the phase currents effective value RMS of the total active power effective value RMS of the total active energy effective value Crest faktor of the phase voltages - K faktor of the phase voltages - Frequency deviation Hz Voltage deviation % Voltage unbalance % The can be read on the display or read out via RS 485. 19 Operating Manual 679.B Digital Multifunctional Power Meter with LCD Display and Optional Modules 7.2. Harmonics WPM 770 provides harmonic analysis up to the 31 st harmonic as well as calculation of the total harmonic distortion (THD), of the K factor and the crest factor. The THD refers to the total of higher harmonics except fandamental harmonic, and it is calculated according to the following formula: THD = Σ N 2 i=2 X i i : Harmonic order X : Percentage of the effective value of each harmonic to that of the fundamental i harmonic N: Highest harmonic, here 31 The crest factor is calculated as follows: N U CF = 1.414Σ h h= 1 U1 U 1: Amplitude of the fundamental harmonic U h: Amplitude of the h th harmonic N: Highest harmonic, here 31 If no voltage is applied, the crest factor will be zero. The K factor is calculated as follows: K Factor Σ = N h= 1 ( I h) h 2 Σ N h= 1 ( I ) 2 I h: Ratio of the h th harmonic h: Harmonic order N: Highest harmonic, here 31 If no current is applied, the K factor will be zero. h

7.3. Frequency deviation The frequency deviation is the difference between the actual frequency and the rated frequency. Fequency deviation = current frequency - rated frequency The rated ferquency can be set via RS 485 to 50 Hz or 60 Hz. WPM 770 records 30 events of frequency deviations, which exceed a programmable setpoint. In the case of a setpoint exceedance, the event is recorded with a time stamp, the durance, and the maximum deviation Voltage deviation The voltage deviation is the ratio of the difference of the actual voltage and the rated voltage in relation to the rated voltage. Voltage deviation (%) = (current voltage - rated voltage) / rated voltage x 100% The voltage deviation can be positive or negative. WPM 770 records 30 events of voltage deviations, which exceed a programmable setpoint. In the case of a setpoint exceedance the event is recorded with a time stamp, the durance and the maximum deviation Voltage unbalance The voltage unbalance is calculated as follows: ε U U = 2 U1 100% U 1: Effektive value of the 3-phase voltage in positive direction U 2: Effektive value of the 3-phase voltage in negative direction WPM 770 records 30 events of voltage unbalance, which exceed a programmable setpoint. In the case of a setpoint exceedance the event is recorded with a time stamp, the durance and the maximum deviation. Note: Current unbalance is not calculated. 43 Operating Manual 679.B Digital Multifunctional Power Meter with LCD Display and Optional Modules 10. Energy Counting and Tariffs Energy counting WPM 770 calculates the energy flow in in 4 quadrants in multiple tariffs and records it. The energies are counted as of the first powering on of the meter. The energies can be reset to zero by using the keys or via the RS 485 interface. After ,9 kwh/kvarh, the counters restart from zero. The total energy, the multiple tariff energies, and the energies of the last month and the last year are counted. With 4-wire connection, the energies per phase are counted additionally in 4 quadrants Tariff tables WPM 770 supports two tariff tables, which can be programmed separately. Each tariff table can be programmed in 8 periods per day with 4 different tariffs. Example for tariff tables: Tariff table No. periods Sequence Starting time (period) Tariff Tbale :00 (- 03:00) F :00 (- 06:00) F :00 (- 09:00) F :00 ( ) F :00 (- 15:00) F :00 (- 18:00) F :00 (- 21:00) F2 Table :00 (- 24:00) F :00 (- 10:00) F :00 (-12:00) F :00 (-14:00) F :00 (- 20:00) F :00 (- 06:00) F4-43 -

There are two modes for the tariffs: "by date" or by "holiday days" In the "by date" mode, the year (365 days) is divided in two periods. In the "by holiday days" mode, the days are classified as working days and holiday days. Working days are monday to friday, holyday days are saturday and sunday. Example for programming the modes: Mode Time zone 1 (tariff table 1) Time zone 2 (tariff table 2) by date April 1 st - September 30 th October 1 st - March 31 st by holiday days Monday to Friday Saturday and Sunday Important notes A day (24 hours) can be divided into a maximum of 8 periods with 4 tariffs. Each period must be >15 min, the duration must be a multiple of 15 min. The starting times must be programmed in ascending order. The tariffs can only be programmed via the RS485 interface and not by using the keys. If two periods of the same tariff interfere to each other, the meter merges the two periods. Time zone 1 uses tariff table 1, time zone 2 uses tariff table 2 It cannot be changed. 45 Operating Manual 679.B Digital Multifunctional Power Meter with LCD Display and Optional Modules 11. Event Recording WPM 770 records 100 error events and 30 setpoint events for frequency, voltage and voltage unbalance each. Additionally, the WPM 770 provides the maximum values of the demand as well as the maximum and minimum values of the consumation Relay events WPM 770 is able to record the switching events and the relay status (ON/OFF). The switching events are stored with time stamp in the UNIX time format. (UNIX time format = Time in seconds as of the 1/1/1970, 00:00 hours) The time resolution is 1 ms. The events can be read out by software. Example: :31: ms Relay 1 ON Frequency deviations The setpoint for frequency deviation can be programmed (default: 0,2 Hz, range: Hz). When exceeding or deceeding the setpoint, the frequency deviation, start and end of the frequency devaiation, and the maximum frequency deviation (with sign) are stored. The values can be shown on the display and read out via the RS 485 interface. Example: :28: :30:15, frequency deviation, max. 0.5 Hz Voltage deviations The setpoint for voltage deviation can be programmed (default: 10%, range: ,99%). When exceeding or deceeding the setpoint, the voltage deviation, start and end of the voltage devaiation, and the maximum voltage deviation (with sign) are stored. The values can be shown on the display and read out via the RS 485 interface. Example: :02: :30:46, voltage deviation, max. -14%

11.4. Voltage unbalance The setpoint for voltage unbalance can be programmed (default: 20%, range: %). When exceeding or deceeding the setpoint, the voltage unbalance, start and end of the voltage unbalance, and the maximum voltage unbalance are stored. The values can be shown on the display and read out via the RS 485 interface. Example: :05: :28:35, voltage unbalance, max. 24% Maximum demand WPM 770 records the maximum demand for the currents of the 3 phases and the total active, reactive, and apparent power. When the actual demand exceeds the stored demand, the new maximum demand will be stored with time stamp. The values can be shown on the display and read out via the RS 485 interface Maximum and minimum values WPM 770 records the maximum and minimum 3-phase values for the voltages (Ph-N or Ph- Ph), currents, active, reactive, and apparent powers. When the actual value exceeds or deceeds the stored value, the new maximum value will be stored with time stamp. The values can be shown on the display and read out via the RS 485 interface.
