I learnt four color printing and tag-less labels printing (We got knowledge on screen mesh and its properties related to textile printing). In nutshell, I learnt every aspect that is required to get good results in screen printing. In what way the workshop is useful to you? The DMI workshop is useful and I recommend it to every offset, screen printers because it shows the right way of doing value added printing. I think that in the present day situation, where everybody is in hurry and run after money making, this kind of workshop, conducted free of cost, is a great devotion by DMI, thus helping the screen printing industry to grow in India. I am thankful to Mr. Bhargav and his team for sharing such a wonderful ideas, samples and simple techniques which can be helpful in making worth in the market. Over all, the workshop was an excellent presentation with comprehensive knowledge on screen printing. I never got, anywhere, such knowledgeable information on this great process. DMI gave me better understanding of the industry, insight into modern screen printing machines and pre press equipment (fully automatic machine running live at DMI), various extraordinary effects that can be printed using various inks. In what way the workshop is useful to you? It was good experience altogether. DMI is a very good platform to know and learn about screen printing. It is only here that we can learn such high knowledge. Above all, printers should learn the good house keeping from DMI. Swapnil R. I had the opportunity to attend 3 previous workshops at DMI (first in 2006). Every time I learn new techniques in pre press as well as in screen printing. This way, I gets filled with advanced and new knowledge in screen printing. This time I learnt some new techniques in screen making, emulsion coating techniques, practical aspect of image correction in photoshop and illustrator, calculating dots for halftone with reference to screen mesh.

2 In what way the workshop is useful to your company? The workshop is useful to me, but only when I implement it at my workplace. I can tell with confidence that the only support I can get is from DMI. Even after 3-years, DMI has maintained its elegant. DMI always deserves high rating for its excellent work. I feel this is a treasure house for screen printers. But, I repeat, mere gaining knowledge by attending DMI workshop is not going to help, unless the participants adopt and implement the knowledge. We are into labels printing for electronic and automobile industry. We started our screen printing business six years ago. In absence of any training institute for screen printing, we had to learn everything by trial and error. Thanks to Mr. Bhargav, today we could save our time and money after attending DMI workshops. We know one thing that screen printing is very vast. There are so many segments like industrial, ceramics, etc. I think not much attention has been given for the development of this industry hence every screen printer has a limited knowledge. After coming to DMI, we got some awareness about what is happening in the industry. During the 3-day workshop, I was exposed to designing, pre press to final printing activities. I also learnt some useful tips on process color printing and print finishing, besides many technical ideas. Since we are already into screen printing, the theoretical knowledge (which is not available anywhere), is useful for carrying out trials at our printing unit. In what way the workshop is useful to you and your company? In nutshell, whatever I learnt is useful to my company. Every input given at the workshop is very important. The experience is amazing. The facilities, hospitality, and the workshop were really so good and I have no words to explain. We are customer of Grafica and using their exposing machine and vacuum table. Whenever I visit here, every time, I got some royal treatment and this is really a wonderful experience. I wanted to know more about advanced screen printing machines, the new process. I also came to know that the workshop conducted by DMI was not just a routine knowledge sharing and practical but a tricky knowledge of the entire screen printing process which was not known to me. As I said, my experience is only limited to conventional manual screen printing. Until coming to DMI, I had no knowledge of modern screen printing machine and the process.

3 I learnt how automation gives better results than manual operation, how to minimize and compensate errors during printing and pre press operations. At DMI, I could see wonderful advanced machines and advance screen printing process. I came to know about modern pre-press operations and various measuring instruments to get better output. In the theory, we were taught about the good pre press, characteristics of a good fabric, modern frames, screen making process, using QC tools, right use of squeegee, use of right ink, etc. It was interesting to know about dot shapes and use of polyester fabric and qualitative benefits. I was also exposed to many techniques which were must for achieving good quality printing. During the practical, I also learnt UV special effects, use of various UV inks, how to make four color printing by using fully automatic machine. In what way the workshop is useful to you and your company? After coming to DMI, I could see lot of developments taking place in screen printing industry. It was a wonderful experience to see the modern machines in action at DMI. Thanks to Mr. Bhargav, we learnt so many tricky techniques here. Whatever the knowledge given by DMI both on modern machine and modern screen printing process - is useful to me and to my company in the long run. Last but least, the hospitality, the institute s facilities were too good. Shekhar M. After reading the reports of DMI and experiences of various leading printers in GraficaNews, I felt it very necessary to attend DMI workshop to get exposed to advanced technology both process and the modern machines. Very poor! I happened to see modern screen printing machines only at exhibitions where not much knowledge could be gained. Exhibitors only briefly tell about the machine, its application, but nobody imparts any kind of practical knowledge like we learnt at DMI. I learnt how to standardize screen printing process. We were exposed to right use of right fabric, squeegee angle, solving moiré problems, special effect printing and many other printing jobs that cannot be done through other process than screen printing, 4 color printing, use of UV ink and UV curing machine, use of photoshop and other softwares. What is your overall experience at DMI? I got correct knowledge of calculating material cost. For the first time in my life I saw someone giving knowledge with an open mind about screen printing technology in detail. I have never seen such a type of cleanliness, neatness, eco-friendly environment which is must for any screen printing set up. Your facilities are superb.

I was always keen to improve my knowledge in latest printing technology. I felt the need to attend the workshop to adapt the technology to improve business and customer satisfaction. My experience so far has been limited to manual screen printing only. The workshop has helped me to familiarize myself with the latest developments in screen printing. While from theory I was filled with lot of knowledge, from practical I became familiar with the latest machines and its operations for maximum advantage. What is your overall experience? The workshop has improved my knowledge and I have understood the usefulness of using the latest technology and will consider it for my future plans. I have realized the importance of maintaining clean shop floor which is required to enhance quality. DMI is progressing fast towards its dream of uplifting small entrepreneurs to make them think big, grow big. DMI is making a significant contribution. I always wanted to know the deeper aspects of screen printing technically, thereby gain more knowledge. So, after coming here, I learnt the difference between solvent and UV ink and quality v/s quantity calculations. Beside this, I also learnt how important it is to take care of our company and staff. Practically, I also learnt how to achieve more production with less effort. Above all, I liked the result achieved in UV special effects during the workshop practical. In my opinion, print finishing and special effects printing is the new generation business for screen printers and will help them to grow. We are doing it manually and we really didn t know about the revolutionary developments that is happening in screen printing industry (which we finally saw at DMI). I came to gain as much as technical knowledge in this field. To my surprise DMI showed a wonderful special effect techniques which I could ever think of. This knowledge is very much applicable in our wedding card printing which requires many creativity that we can think of. Besides, I learnt lot of other technical aspects from basic to fundamentals. DMI is a great institute which will definitely help in changing the poor and shabby image of screen printing. My first impression was that the institute reflected a very clean environment. The workshop and hospitalities were very good. We did not know so much about advanced screen printing as taught at DMI. I learnt a lot more including the UV print finish. Yes, I want to mention here that the workshop was too short considering the deep and very deep area, that is screen printing. The workshop enlightened me on how to achieve best results and what are the cares that need to be taken on the shop floor. I have six years experience in manual table and M&R automatic textile printing. However, I felt the need to know more about the innovative and creative side of screen printing besides learning trouble shooting techniques. The workshop provided lot of technical data, problem solving in screen printing which is a big challenge. I learnt bad effects of moire and how to avoid it easily. The knowledge about Adobe illustrator and proper use of all machines, tools at all levels of printing process was an eye opener. I liked the entire theory part of screen printing. We learnt everything about UV printing. DMI is the right place for learning screen printing. I also got knowledge on use of special effect inks, CMYK technique, color correction, photoshop techniques among many other things.
