This is why we pay great attention in our UV elements to all the values that are crucial to achieving that effect: UVA irradiance: With their long wavelength, UVA rays penetrate the deeper layers of the skin, where they tan the pigments present there. The result is an instant tan or instant pigmentation. UVB output: The shortwave UVB radiation only penetrates the surface of the skin, where it triggers the formation of new pigments this tanning effect becomes noticeable after about 48 to 72 hours. Sun erythema factor (fse): This factor compares the UV irradiance of a tube with the midday sun at the equator. If the factor trebles, the exposure time reduces to one third.
