2 General Conditions 1. This competition is open to all the photographers across the world. 2. An entry may be rejected if the organizers in their reasonable discretion decide that the entry does not conform to the Rules and Conditions of the competition. 3. Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and that he/she is the sole owner of all the elements and all the rights on the image he/she presents. 4. Images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise, by the maker and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic contents predominate, without violating Section definition as laid down by PSA / FIAP. 5. The entrant permits the organizers to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This includes low resolution posting on a website. 6. Entries which will not comply in full or part with the conditions of the Salon will not be judged. 7. Images or similar images exhibited in previous International Salon of Photography will not be eligible. 8. A photo entered in one section, can not be entered in another section. If two or more similar images are entered by the same author, the first one getting the acceptance score will be considered for acceptance or award, while other images will not be considered. 9. Organizers will handle each digital file and the related items with utmost care. However, they will not be responsible for any loss or damage. 10. Watermarks or any such identification marks including camera generated date/time are not acceptable

3 11. An entrant s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging. The decision of the Judges will be final and binding on all the participants; no further appeal will be entertained. 12. Participants are requested to submit their entries and remit their entry fees well in time. Late entries will not be entertained and entry fees will be retained. If entry fee is not received within the specific timeframe, photographs will not be considered for selection. 13. Submission of Entries to the Salon implies acceptance of the above regulations. Rules and Regulations 1. All submitted Photographs must be the work of the participant solely. 2. 4 3. File Naming No special file naming is required. If the title of the image is Tajmahal, the file name may be Tajmahal.jpg. However, file name should contain English letters only, and must not be longer than 30 characters. Please note that file extension.jpeg will not be accepted, and the file name must not contain any special characters (i.e. &;,. ). 5. Submission of Entries Entries must be submitted online. Please visit http// and click on Salon Thereafter follow the instructions to start registration. After completion of registration, you will receive an activation link in the mailbox of the address mentioned by you in the registration form. Please check you spam also. Your account will be activated when you will click on this activation link. Log in to start uploading your entries. 6. Entrants are required to advise the payment details to chhayapath.calcutta@gmail.com 8. Minimum Acceptance Rate : The acceptance Rate for each section will be between 25% and 35% of images entered. However, the decision of the Judges will be final. The Judging and exhibition presentation of the projected images will be done by multimedia projector with (1600 x 1200) on a screen sized at least 1.8m x 1.8m. CD and Printed Catalog All Participants will receive a high quality CD Catalog showing all awarded and accepted images, as well as full author-wise list of awarded and accepted entries. A black and white work toned entirely in a single color will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage. On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one color becomes a color work (polychrome) to stand in the color category; such a work requires color reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage. PSA definition of monochrome image:- A monochrome image is defined as having varying shades of no more than one color (various shades of that color from very light to very dark) but it may be any single color. Multi-toned images (various shades of two or more colors) and grayscale images with added an accent color are not acceptable in Monochrome Class sections and must be entered in Color Class sections. Definition of Nature (FIAP):- As per FIAP definition, nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs. Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible. Minimal evidence of humans is acceptable for nature subjects such as barn owl/storks, adapting to an environment modified by humans/natural forces, like hurricane/tidal waves, reclaiming it. The original image must have been taken by the photographer whatever photographic medium is used. Any manipulation/modification to the original images is limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene.

9 After satisfying the above requirements every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all natural photographs. Definition of Nature Photography (PSA) : All images used in International Exhibitions recognized by the PSA Nature Division requirements must meet the PSA Nature Definition as follows: "Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict observations from all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well informed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify as to its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements enhance the nature story. The presence of scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals is permissible. Photographs of artificially produced hybrid plants or animals, mounted specimens, or obviously set arrangements, are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add to, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content are permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Color images can be converted to grayscale monochrome. Infrared images are not allowed. Photo Travel (PSA) A Photo Travel image must express the feeling of a time and place, and portray a land, its distinctive features or culture in its natural state. There are no geographical limitations. Close-up pictures of people or objects must include distinguishable environment. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Conversion to full monochrome is acceptable. Derivations, including infrared, are unacceptable.
