2 20/11/2012 Page 2 / 9 How to use the Zoom module The Zoom module is made of two distinct optical components assembled together: Collimator LLC49Z2 Window LLW19Z2 Diameter 45mm Height 27.0mm (incl. LED) Weight 25.2g Material PMMA Diameter 45mm Height 7.1mm Weight 4.2g Material PMMA The collimator LLC49Z is mounted directly on top of the LED, like all collimators from family LLC49x. The window LLW19Z is mounted on top of the collimator LLC49Z. It translates along the optical axis. The translation movement changes the beam angle. 3 20/11/2012 Page 3 / 9 How to locate the Zoom window In narrow beam configuration, the window is in contact with the collimator. The optical textures from the collimator and from the window fit each other. Only one angular position is possible. The right position is indicated by a locating pin which comes in front of the injection channel Locating pin in front of the injection channel How to mount the collimator The LLC49Z2 collimator has the complementary shape of the OSTAR SMT. It fits directly on top of the LED. Press the collimator on the LED with a flange in order to maintain it in position. Be aware of lateral shocks. The collimator inertia may destroy the LED if a lateral shock is transmitted to the collimator. How to mount the window The LLW19Z2 window has the complementary shape of the LLC49Z2 collimator. It fits directly on top of the collimator. Use a loose holder for the window. Put the window on the collimator (honeycomb texture outside), it will fit naturally in position. Only one angular position is possible. Use the locating pin as shown on the previous picture. Attach the window on its holder. Glue, screws, flange may be used to do so.

The mechanical system used to translate the window must meet the following tolerances.
