3 INTRODUCTION Prism Imaging has been trading for over 25 years, with a highly experienced techincal team paired with the most advanced photographic and digital printers, we offer a complete range of products and services for professional and emerging photographers.. Starting as an E6 processing lab, Prism quickly met industry needs to progress to a full range of prolab services including C41 and B&W processing and printing, R3 printing and duplicating etc. Prism Imaging established a digital imaging facility in 1993, being the first to offer digital dye sublimation printing in Victoria. Since then our digital imaging facility has grown to include the most advanced systems of scanning and digital of service and quality that have contributed to this growth. Constantly keeping up to date with the latest in print technology whilst maintaining quality services such as film processing, Prism is a technical backbone for Melbourne s everchanging photographic community. 5 FINE ART PRINTING INFO Archival quality fine art paper types Kodak Premium Lustre Paper (270gsm): A general purpose lustre surface identical to photographic paper E surface with exceptional archival qualities and a brilliant white base. A lovely all rounder for commercial prints. Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl (310gsm): A smooth pearl paper, superb photographic image quality and consistent, heavyweight look and feel of a real photograph. Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk (310gsm): A semi-gloss paper with traditional barium sulphate (bryta) base which gives the creamy whites and velvety blacks of a true fibre photographic B&W print. Ilford Gold Fibre Gloss (310gsm): A beautiful 100% cotton paper similar to the old fibre based darkroom papers with a gentle warm tone. Canson Baryta (310gsm): Museum grade baryta photo paper with no optical brighteners. Ilford Smooth Rag (310gsm): A very smooth 100% cotton rag paper with no optical brighteners. Canson Platine Fibre Rag (310gsm): Setting the benchmark for Digital Darkroom papers, Platine Fibre Rag provides the aesthetic and feel of the original F-Type Baryta Fibre paper, excellent for grey tones, B&W work and colour. Museo Portfolio Rag (300gsm): A very smooth matte 100% cotton rag. An ideal fine art paper for exhibition and portfolio prints, when you need exceptional tonal range on a surface that will not detract from your photographic images. Canson BFK Rives Textured Rag (310gsm): A beautiful textured rag paper, with a very specific smooth and velvety base. Exceptional with colour, the BFK Rives has a unique pure white tone obtained without the use of optical brighteners. Canson Photographique Rag (310gsm): This paper type offers an exceptional smooth white tone, achieved during manufacturing by introducing natural minerals to the process. It offers a unique extra smooth surface with a sensual feel. Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper (310gsm): This mould-made etching paper features a distinct textured surface. German Etching meets the highest industry standards regarding density, colour gamut, colour graduation and image sharpness. Canvas / Other: Canson ProCanvas (395gsm): A natural white canvas that produces vivid colours, precise gradations and deep blacks. High end quality and free of optical brighteners, ProCanvas offers exceptional colour stability over time and resistance to ageing. Comes in a matte or Lustre finish. Magiclee Fab-Lite: A 5 mil semi-sheer, silk-like 100% polyester woven matte finish fabric. Kodak Universal Backlit Film: A gloss-coated polyester designed to produce vibrant light box graphics. It also looks great without backlighting for other display applications. Phototex Fabric Paper (140gsm): Phototex is an extremely versatile material that can be adhered to walls, ceilings, and doors. With the ability to be repositioned and reused over and over again. It can be applied both indoors and outdoors to create attractive murals, family shots or wedding photos regardless of temperature, moisture or weather conditions. It leaves no sticky residue when removed and is 100% non-toxic, safe and biodegradable. It has a wonderful weaved texture with a lustre finish and can be used to follow a wall around a corner with superb impact, the interior design options are endless! Ilford Galerie Metallic Gloss (260gsm): This stunning offers photographers the ability to print images with a true wow factor. The iridium finish gives every image a three-dimensional look ensuring that each print truly comes to life. 18 ART REPRODUCTION Hasselblad X1D (digital camera) reproduction PROFESSIONAL REPRODUCTION Our copy work service supports artists whose large-scale work requires a digital output or print to produce limited edition reproductions. THE PROCESS Lighting Before your work is photographed in our studio, a set up is arranged specifically to light the art to maintain the color and texture of your work. Photography Large scale works are photographed with the use of a Hasselblad x1d a mirrorless digital medium format camera. With the use of this magnificent camera all the details of your work will be retained digitally. Color Reproduction Once an image of your work has been taken we then work on colour and density matching. Our highly skilled and knowledgeable staff colour grade with particular attention to detail to reproduce the colors accurately to your original work. 22 MOUNTING & LAMINATING General information Using the mounting & laminating price list 1/ Measure the print in centimetres. 2/ Add length and width together to obtain united centimetres. Please Note: Customers should note that mounting and laminating is an irreversible process and by its very nature is susceptible to occasional problems from faults in the material and human error. For this reason, we recommend against mounting and laminating expensive originals.. Mounting on material supplied We take a lot of care in our selection of mounting medium to maximise the quality and longevity of your mounting job. There are many factors that can lead to long and short term problems. Some examples are moisture, material stability and surface impurities. For this reason we cannot guarantee any work undertaken on material supplied by the client. Rush jobs Our normal turnaround for mounting and laminating jobs is 3 working days for most standard jobs and longer for non-standard jobs. Although we will assist our clients by undertaking rush jobs it must be understood that such jobs by their nature are prone to a higher risk and problems. We do not take any responsibility for problems in jobs where the turnaround is less than 24 hours. Couriers Please note that we take no responsibility for your work once it leaves our premises. We recommend that you pick up yourselves or use a courier you can trust. Your finished job will be packed securely and labelled with fragile stickers, but this does not guarantee against rough handling or dropping. Colour: Due to the limitations inherent in photographic material, the full spectrum of colour & contrast of the original cannot always be faithfully reproduced. Service Times: The production times listed are a calculated estimate and will vary as workloads demand. Rush service is available and liable to a surcharge. After Hours Service: A secure drop off box is available for client use. Apply for a key if you require this service. If you wish the use of our after hours pick up box, we provide this service. Ask our manager for further information. Hours And Overtime: Business hours are between 9.00am and 5.30 pm Monday to Thursday and closing at 4.30pm on Friday. The Laboratory may be commissioned for after hours work by prior arrangement with the manager (24 hours prior notice is required). Please call or Gary at to obtain our output profiles for soft-proofing if required. Please use these profiles for soft proofing only, there is no need to embed them to your files.
