Since its opening in 1990, the 7,500-seat arena has hosted around 40 international competitions of different kinds of sports. After the 2006 renovation, it became Azerbaijan s home of gymnastics, accommodating a number of major international rhythmic gymnastics tournaments. During the 2015 First European games the arena has hosted all the judo, sambo and wrestling competitions. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS Griven s lighting design department was asked to create a dynamic pixel lighting scheme for the arena crown-shaped outer cover that should wrap it up in a decorative, eye-catching sort of canopy sparkling with thousands of lights in the night of Baku, showing an array of different patterns and chasing light games.

The selected pixel lighting fixtures were therefore fixed on to the metal skeleton of the structure according to the developed lighting scheme: a recurring rhombus grid displays now all around the structure a crown-shaped pattern combination of colour changing, smoothly fading chasing pixels. 4 PRODUCT INSTALLATION Custom metal brackets have been specifically engineered in order to fix to the metal skeleton of the arena over 1300 units of GRIVEN Graph-i-Cell in RGB colour configuration. After fastening these pixel lighting units to the metal structure of the arena, their bodies have been partially recessed with the help of fiberglass sheets meant to hide the fixing system, while leaving only the luminous dome of the products to be seen. 7 THE KEY TO SUCCESS >According to the client s requirements, the lighting design concept was conceived by GRIVEN s lighting design department before the completion of the outer cover of the arena, in order to achieve a perfect final result. >GRIVEN was able to deliver a direct assistance throughout the installation phases of the lighting system. >An accurate on-site programming and testing was developed by GRIVEN s engineers.
