1 Specification Class: Coating materials Class No.:29 Paint for Plastic Components JED 864 Previous Edition Abbreviated Title - Paint; plastic parts Scope The specification refers to a coating material for plastic parts, i. e., parts which are exposed to the outdoor atmosphere (direct outdoor weathering), as for instance devices mounted on axles and chassis, in a colour with max de 2 difference to an agreed master sample. 2 General requirements Pretreatment, coating materials and method are to be selected in accordance with the requirements of this specification. The restrictions on materials according to JED-762 have to be followed. Powder paints may not contain TGIC as hardener. 3 Thermal range of application of the coated parts Continuous operational temperature range: -40 C to +65 C 4 Technical properties The desired values stated on the following pages shall be determined in accordance with the indicated test methods. To comply with the indicated requirements not only the quality of paint and coating, but also the material, pretreatment and shape of the part may be of decisive influence. Therefore, the inspection shall be made on finished parts whenever possible. If a finished part is not suitable for being tested, samples must be agreed upon. 3 JED-864 : Page 3 5 Sampling At sampling finished parts treated to this are to be presented. Subsequent supplies must correspond to the samples with regard to the basic material, pretreatment, paint and coating method. 6 Guarantee 6.1 General The manufacturer is obliged to prove by regular random test that the requirements are observed, and to keep the documents referring to this inspection accessible to the customer. The current supplies must correspond to the released sample, the requirements of the present specification, and to the drawings. 6.2 Initial sample On each first delivery some initial samples and the initial sample inspection report are to be submitted for dimensional inspection and material test. 6.3 Changes The change of the basic materials, substantial characteristics of them (raw materials) or of the manufacturing process - regardless of the kind of change and its reason - is only permissible after previous release by the technical responsible departments. 7 Attachement: Defect catalogue The limits for permissible defects on components are defined in the following catalogue.

Conditions for visual inspection of OptiFlow - Inspection is doing by day light or if not possible by indoor light with minimum 850 lux - Inspection distance is minimally 150 cm.
