2 Introduction We live in a complex and visually chaotic world. We need to consider our use of colour in the same way that we consider what we choose to cook or read. Life is about the experience, and colours should be carefully selected with a deep and contemplative soul. Colours are like the alphabet, vowels and consonants, creating a language in the same way that colour composition and layering create a vision and harmony in a space.

3 Giulio Ridolfo For me a palette is more than a selection of different colours that can adorn a situation. They should generate possibilities just like matching ingredients from a recipe to a more complex scene, all the while being singularly good-looking.

4 Process The Schiavello Colour Palette was developed by Giulio Ridolfo in collaboration with our team of designers to create a considered palette for contemporary commercial and living environments. Beginning with the freedom that a blank canvas offers, we created a series of landscapes through the collection and arrangement of inspirational objects. From this organised chaos, a number of threads were teased out through the eccentric juxtaposition of materials, images, textures and miscellaneous items. The reflective phase of colour and texture was tempered with a constant and balanced perception of our contemporary environments. The awareness and perception of light was a strong theme that captured an awareness and intensity, and provided the focus to begin the process of finding families of colour.

5 Sense of White Sense of White originated with an exploration of the relationship between a space and natural light, and the effects of that relationship. With many different types of white in existence, our perception of white varies. Here we use white as the main ingredient, then add the spices as we layer in colour, giving us a selection of tones of light that can encourage positivity and wellbeing.

7 The Off Whites Less dramatic than pure white, The Off Whites has a sophisticated warmth and a deep soul. The colours in this range are inspired by the warmth of white, and encourage a strong respect for how they can accentuate natural light.

9 Water Calling Water is an elusive and ever-changing palette of cool and warm colour, as seen in the exploration of landscapes in a watercolour painting. Water Calling was created as a complement to the intensity and solidity of the other palettes. Reflecting transparent shades, this palette shapes surfaces in a less tangible way, showing the purity of morning light.

11 The Urbans Revealing charming complexity through a harmonious combination of colour, The Urbans takes one on a tour where no strong colour contrasts appear, but where tones fuse like a winter sunset over a cosmopolitan city. 13 The Recipes A respite from the monotones, The Recipes are a collection of colours that originate from strong emotion. Unusual shades of yellow, orange, red, green, pink and light blue are combined in the spirit of creating energetic vibes by layering on existing families of colour, and brightening up sober scenarios.
