W.Whitlock A portrait on board painted by William Whitlock, New York circa 1815 of Martha Rich, who was born at Endfield Mass. on May 27, This was painted when she was 39. When we opened the back of the painting to see what was there we found the notes, see photo. These same notes are written on the back of the board and also on the inside of the wood panel that goes on the back of the frame. There are some losses to paint around the edge of the painting, you can see these as white areas in photo, these are scratches and not flakeing paint, otherwise in excellent condition. We havn't been lble to find anything out about the artist William Whitlock? We bought the estate of Addie Small SmiH who lived in Palm Beach, Florida, she was over 100 years old when she died. The OGframe is in lovely condition. Portrait approx. 6"x8", frame approx. 11 1/2" X 14". Please see our other auction that relates to this portrait a sampler from 1815.Lots of pictures please be Patient. Fourth picture is the back of the panel. Fifth is the note we found in the back of the painting.
