5 ip to e Square Page 13 Runner Sewing Instructions 1. Sew one 2 x 3 ½ Fabric strip to the left side of one 3 ½ Fabric A square. Sew one 2 x 3 ½ Fabric strip to the right side of the 3 ½ Fabric A square. Sew one 2 x 6 ½ Fabric strip to the top of the 3 ½ Fabric A square and one 2 x 6 ½ Fabric strip to the bottom of the 3 ½ Fabric A square to make one center unit (Fig. 1). 2. Sew one 2 x 6 ½ Fabric F strip to the left side of the center unit. Sew one 2 x 6 ½ Fabric E strip to the right side of the center unit. Sew one 2 x 9 ½ Fabric L strip to the top of the center unit and one 2 x 9 ½ Fabric I strip to the bottom of the center unit (Fig. 2). 3. Sew one 2 x 9 ½ Fabric K strip to the left side of the center unit. Sew one 2 x 9 ½ Fabric G strip to the right side of the center unit. Sew one 2 x 12 ½ Fabric M strip to the top of the center unit and one 2 x 12 ½ Fabric J strip to the bottom of the center unit to make one lock (Fig. 3). 4. Repeat Steps 1-3 to make 8 blocks total. Runner Top Assembly (Refer to Figures 4-6 while assembling.) 5. Refer to Figure 4 to sew the eight blocks together to make the runner top. 6. Sew one 1 ½ x 24 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the runner. Sew one 1 ½ x 50 ½ Fabric strip to the top and bottom of the runner (Fig. 5). 7. Sew one 2 ½ x 26 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the runner. Sew one 2 ½ x 54 ½ Fabric strip to the top and bottom of the runner (Fig. 5). 8. Following the manufacturer s instructions to trace the listed number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8 outside the drawn lines. 9. Refer to Figure 6 to arrange and press the Flowers, centers, stems and leaves onto the runner top. 11. Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch. 12. Layer and quilt as desired. 13. Sew the (5) 2 ½ x WF Fabric strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 14. ind as desired.
