Trim 1/4 away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal A corner traingle. Repeat with another 2 A square at the diagonally opposite corner of the same 3-1/2 x 3-1/2" batik rectangle. 4 2. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 2 batik square. Place square, RST, on (1) 2 x 3-1/2 A rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4 away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal batik corner triangle. Add (1) 2 A square to the left of the sewn unit from Step Sew units made in Steps 1-2 as shown below to complete (1) Corner Unit. 5 CONSTRUCTING PIECED BLOCKS - BLOCK CENTER 1. Block Center. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 2 batik square. Place square, RST, on (1) 2 x 5 A rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4 away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal batik corner traingle. Repeat with another 2 batik square at the opposite side of the same A rectangle to complete (1) row unit, as shown below. Repeat to make (2) Row Units. row unit 2. Sew (2) 2 A squares to the opposite sides of (1) 2 batik square to make a Square Row Unit. square row unit 3. Sew together Row Units made in Steps 2 and 3 to complete Block Center. Square to 5. block center 4. Sew (2) Middle Units to the opposite sides of Block Center to make a row. Sew (2) Corner Units to the opposite sides of (1) Middle Unit to make a row. Repeat to make (2) rows. Sew all (3) rows together to make (1) Complete Block. Block should measure 14 x 14. complete block 5. Make (3) Complete Blocks in the following fabric combinations: (Refer to quilt diagram on Page 6 for placement). 6 QUILT CENTER ASSEMBLY 1. Pieced Row. Arrange and sew (5) pieced blocks and (4) 2-1/2 x 14 A Sashing Rectangles to make a pieced row. Fabric combinations shown for each block <batik / batik 2>. 8 FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS: 1. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich. Baste the layers together. 2. Quilt as desired. 3. Add L binding to finish quilt. 7
