7 We understand Restful Sleep Down It is a true wonder of nature and has been used for hundreds of years as ideal filling for duvets. With its countless tiny air pockets between the individual hairs it ensures optimal heat insulation and wicks away moisture to the surrounding air. The origin of down is traceable through the Brinkhaus traceability system. Moreover, the Traumpass seal promises a down that does not come from living animals. At BRINKHAUS, the down goes through a fully integrated control process, and is even washed, controlled and assorted in a multistage process for your safety! 10 LUXURY EIDERDOWN The Eiderdown duvet Nature has created an incredible and unique insulation material in the form of Icelandic eiderdown. Eiderdown is very large but finer and denser than all other types of down. It forms a type of fleece that insulates like no other natural or artificial material. The eider ducks brave icy temperatures and powerful polar storms with their coat. They use their unique breast and stomach down to protect the brood from the cold Icelandic climate. The females naturally lose a part of their down before laying their eggs and carefully collect it and fill their nest with it. The chicks hatch and then leave the nest. The eider duck farmers then carefully collect the valuable down without disturbing the birds in their natural environment. This down is then used in the uniquely snug Luxury Lifestyle collection. Cover fabric Due to the special properties of eiderdown, we do not use the conventional cover fabrics that keep the down from escaping. Eiderdown can be held by fine natural silk fabrics. This also promotes the exchange of heat and breathability of eiderdown duvets. Design To perfectly distribute the filling, we weigh the filling beforehand for each square and carefully fill the squares of our eiderdown duvets by hand. 12 Arctic The down duvet and pillow These new Brinkhaus Luxury Lifestyle duvets and pillows combine the traditional value of first-class down duvets with modern technology. The fabric consists of finest silk and Tencel (lyocell). Lyocell shares many properties with other cellulosic fibres such as cotton and linen. Some of the main characteristics of lyocell fibres are that they are soft, absorbent and very strong when wet or dry, and resistant to wrinkles. Silk is a traditional material for luxurious fabrics: the flat surfaces of the fibrils reflect light at many angles, giving the fabric a natural shine. Silk has a smooth, soft texture that is not slippery. Both materials combined in a finest satin fabric result in a very soft, very shiny and luxurious fabric. The filling is a high-grade down from a grey duck: the down cluster is very soft and very large, with a very high fill power and high thermal insulation. 16 Dual Contour The Dual down duvet With the dual bedding principle, two individual duvets are connected to each other at the edge. In the middle of the duvet, an insulating cavity forms and retains additional warmth. This produces a modern, light duvet with a lightweight filling and - at the same time - a high level of thermal insulation. The two halves are completely separated by a central layer of cotton which acts like a hammock. 34 Cotton PAd The Mattress Pad As a natural plant material cotton is a serious option for those who seek alternatives to chemical-based fillings and cannot have animal-based fillings like down, cashmere or silk. The cotton PAD is an extremely comfortable addition to the top of the mattress and fits under the bottom sheet. The pad is of deep rectangular quilted cotton in fine cotton casing and is fitted with wide elastic corner straps to quickly and easily fit over the mattress itself. The soft natural absorbent cotton adds extra luxury and comfort to the mattress top and is designed to be laundered at high temperature to remove allergens. As well as providing natural comfort for allergy control, the pad will add additional softness and comfort to an ageing or hard mattress. When laundered, the mattress pad should be reshaped whilst still damp. Initially it may seem to have shrunk but will expand to the correct size during use. 36 Morpheus Dust mite Barrier The Pillow Covers The special MORPHEUS bedding is for people suffering from house dust mite allergies and all those people who react sensitively to environmental influences. These pillowcases are particularly suitable for the requirements which people suffering from house dust mite allergies impose on modern bedding. The covers are made of a particularly dense 100 % cotton fabric. An additional mechanical finishing ensures that penetration by house dust mites is out of the question. As a result, an additional coating is not necessary. The dust mite barrier completely encloses the covers. In this connection, a select combination of materials permits regular washing at these temperatures, which ensures that house dust mites and other microorganisms are effectively killed off. It can be washed at 95 C and tumble dried for extra hygiene control. 38 Seals of Quality öko-tex Product identification with the label Confidence in Textiles and the connected proven safety of textile products is an additional sales argument which surveys have found to be more important to consumers than price, functionality or brand. Widespread use and customer awareness of the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 contribute to the OEKO-TEX label now having a status similar to that of a brand name and being actively requested by consumers. Marking products with the OEKO-TEX label therefore provides all textile and clothing manufacturers with valid certificates with an effective way of drawing more attention to their products. Without visible labels, consumers are not in a position to assess the human ecological quality of the textiles. Medicott The spores of mould and mildew are known to be a cause of allergies. Their damaging influence can be combated with a special process technology. We have therefore treated the cloth for our quilts and pillows using the Medicott process. When the products are cleaned correctly, this process inhibits the growth and development of mould and mildew even when the product is wet for some time. The process does not use fungicides, microbicides or bactericides. It preserves the cotton fibre and supports its durability. 38

39 Nomite The NOMITE mark indicates that a product is suitable for house dust mite allergy sufferers: because down- and feather-filled products offer excellent thermal and climatic conditions for humans (rapid warming up when one is sleeping, rapid decrease in humidity when the bedding is aired), they provide a very poor habitat for house dust mites, which rely on high humidity to live. The tight weave of the down- and feather-proof fabric acts as a barrier, preventing the mites from passing through, and therefore offers additional protection - so that those who suffer from house dust allergies or asthma can also enjoy the natural comfort afforded by down and feather bedding. This has been demonstrated by scientific research. Traumpass Traumpass is a quality seal used for bedding, sleeping bags and clothing that are filled with down and feathers. Products marked with this seal must be filled with down and feathers from the two highest classes l and ll in accordance with EN In addition, all raw materials used in Traumpass products are by-products from meat production and thus sourced exclusively from slaughtered animals. Companies who use the seal on their products have agreed to adhere to this specification. The label Traumpass DIN tested, which is sewn into every product, contains an individual lot-specific testing number that enables the manufacturing company to be identified. The origin of the down and feathers used for filling can be traced back via documents such as delivery notes, invoices, tax and import certificates, ending at the slaughterhouse from which the raw materials are sourced. This guarantees that products with the Traumpass seal do not contain material from living animals. Checks to ensure that the user of the seal follows these guidelines are carried out in regular audits of the companies by the certification organisation DIN- CERTCO, Berlin. 39
