3 Recommended Settings & Fall Back Matching Parcel and street level geocoding will attempted first on all records as they are first and second most accurate methods of geocoding records. In the event that a parcel or street match is not possible, the CRA Wiz & Fair Lending Wiz geocoder will attempt the following match strategies (in order below) if they are enabled in your Geocoding Settings. 4 Parcel Match When an address is geocoded to a parcel, the latitude and longitude for the address is assigned based on the center point of the parcel of land (or sometimes the center point of the structure s roof. ) Relevant geocoding data points such as state, MSA, county and census tract are assigned based on this location. mmwstat Code: B1 Centroid Code: NA Accuracy: Approximately 99%

5 Street Match When an address is geocoded to a street segment, latitude and longitude information is interpolated for an address based on its position on a street segment. State, MSA, county, census tract data is assigned based on that location. mmwstat Code: B2 Centroid Code: NA Accuracy: Approximately 98%

6 Tract Match Multiple segments are returned for the address and all of segments are within a single census tract. The street number provided does not match an actual segment, but all segments for the identified street are within a single census tract. mmwstat Code: B8 Centroid Code: NA Accuracy: Approximately 98%

7 ZIP Match Overview ZIP Codes are used to identify mail delivery routes and provide a specific geographic region. The region identified becomes more accurate as you progress through the digits of a ZIP Code. A full 9 digit ZIP Code can typically be used to find a very small location which provides enough information for census tract level accuracy. Example: Malden, MA Centroiding Centroiding is the process of identifying the geographical center point of a region. In Centroiding the actual location returned in the longitude and latitude does not represent the location of the address, but rather the center point of the ZIP Code that was used. 8 ZIP % Matching ZIP % matches are derived from a spatial calculation using ZIP Code and census tract data. The system calculates how much of any particular ZIP Code is physically located within a single census tract. In the CRA Wiz Geocoding Settings, there are three types of ZIP % matches; ZIP 99% 99% of the five digit ZIP Code is located with in the same census tract mmwstat Code: 14 Centroid Code: A Accuracy: Approximately 99% ZIP 95% 95% of the five digit ZIP Code is located within the same census tract mmwstat Code: 14 Centroid Code: B Accuracy: Approximately 95% ZIP 90% 90% of the five digit ZIP Code is located within the same census tract mmwstat Code: 14 Centroid Code: C Accuracy: Approximately 85%

9 ZIP4 Centroid The four digit extension of a standard USPS ZIP Code translates to a very specific, well defined, geographic area within a five digit ZIP Code. It is represented by all nine digits of a ZIP Code, for example Malden, MA If the geocoder is unable to street match a location but can ascertain its nine digit ZIP Code, it will geocode the address to the center point of the geographic area identified by the nine digit ZIP Code. mmwstat Code: 14 Centroid Code: 4 ZIP2 Centroid Accuracy: Approximately 90% The two digit extension of a standard USPS ZIP Code translates to a slightly larger geographic area within a five digit ZIP Code. 11 Geocoding Methodology ZIP5 Centroid This match strategy uses the five digit ZIP Code from the input address and geocodes the address to the geographical center of ZIP Code boundary. ZIP5 matching is the least accurate means of geocoding an address and is therefore not a recommended match strategy for regulatory grade geocoding. When all other geocode match options fail, ZIP5 matching can be used to geocode an address to the center point of a the five digit ZIP Code. 13 CRA Wiz Geocoding vs. FFIEC Geocoding The biggest difference between geocoding in CRA Wiz and the FFIEC website is that the FFIEC provides only parcel, street and manual geocoding CRA Wiz provides users with additional match strategies to increase an institution s hit rate when batch geocoding their file (Tract matches and ZIP %, ZIP4, ZIP2 & ZIP5 centroiding) CRA Wiz provides users with a set of suggested geocoding settings that will allow users to utilize supplemental match strategies while still ensuring the highest possible accuracy rates While CRA Wiz provides suggested geocoding settings, it also offers institutions the flexibility to select their own geocoding settings based on their accuracy/risk tolerance. Similar to the FFIEC geocoder, CRA Wiz allows users to manually geocode a record using a street map. CRA Wiz users also have the ability to interactively geocode an address by selecting the desired state, city and street combination to select a specific street segment to geocode a record to.
