2 HISTORY & TECHNOLOGY Technology More than 60 years ago Franchi began manufacturing the long-recoil 48 AL, hailed as an innovation in shotgun technology, and the ultimate refinement of long-recoil autoloaders. The next development was in the direction of gas-operated semi-autos, and the current modernization trend includes the incorporation of the Inertia Driven system to drive the latest generation of Franchi semi-automatic shotguns. The Franchi semi-autos remain the choice of many discerning wingshooters for their lightning-fast handling qualities and superior feel. Franchi shotguns are quality firearms that meet today s demanding standards without compromising the original ideas and concepts that make Franchi firearms unique. Combining cutting edge modern manufacturing methods and technology with Old-World gun craftsmanship, has enabled Franchi to create sets of shotguns that are amazingly simple, yet absolutely reliable. With modern metallurgy and technology and their distinct lightweight styling, Franchi's 48 AL, Instinct over & unders and the Inertia Driven Affinity are testament to that fact. Step 1 CHAMBERING As the bolt assembly moves into battery, the locking head pin moves along a curved track in the bolt body to rotate the steel bolt head into engagement with the steel barrel extension. EST Step 2 FIRING When the gun fires every part of the shotgun except the bolt body moves rearward. The curved track in the bolt body, which is moving forward relative to the rest of the gun, presses against the locking head pin, turning the bolt head even tighter into the barrel extension. A shell is allowed to exit from the magazine. A 7-Year Warranty guarantees that if anything should go wrong, under normal use, your firearm will be serviced for you by skilled gunsmiths at our national firearm service center. While your Franchi is under warranty, we will assume the cost of parts, labor and shipping required to get your firearm back to you and working perfectly. Step 3 RECOIL Near the end of the recoil cycle the chamber drops to a safe level and the gun s rearward motion slows. The heavy inertia spring then thrusts the bolt assembly rearward, unlocking the rotating head, pulling the spent shell from the chamber and recocking the hammer. Step 4 EJECTION As the bolt assembly continues to the rear it compresses the recoil spring on the magazine tube and pulls the spent shell against the ejector. After the empty shell exits the receiver the recoil spring then thrusts the bolt assembly forward, lifting the next shell into position and pushing it into the chamber. 3 Intensity Feel The Power INTENSITY 12-GA, 3½" # Black synthetic The Intensity is a 3½-inch 12-gauge powerhouse, featuring the versatile Inertia Driven system. It embodies the feel of a smaller gauge gun with a slim attractive profile, possible because the recoil spring encircles the magazine tube located forward of the receiver. Further slimming is accomplished by trimming down the dimensions of the durable polymer stock, which also includes a removable balance weight fitted in the buttstock for adjustable weight distribution and balance. The Intensity is available in four finishes and comes with either a 26-, 28- or 30-inch barrel that sports a stepped, ventilated-rib with a red fiber-optic front sight. The buttstock offers a 12 3 / 8-inch length-of-pull, to which, spacers can be added. As a young shooter grows, so grows the gun.
