1 SPEAKERS TAZ BRUTCH Director Architecture, Digital Technologies, & IoT Stanley Black & Tasneem Brutch is based at Stanley Black and Decker s world headquarters in New Britain as director of architecture, digital technologies, and IoT. Prior to her current role she was at ESPN, where she held the posts of vice president of information technology and vice president of advanced technology. While at ESPN, Brutch led the company s digital transformation, cloud adoption, and migration strategy. Before joining ESPN, Brutch held multiple leadership roles, including director of research and development at Samsung and senior architect at Intel. cybersecurity, machine learning, big data analytics, service-oriented architecture, web services, and enterprise application integration. Brutch holds a doctorate in computer engineering, a master s degree in computer science, and a bachelor s degree in computer science and engineering from Texas A&M University. She has earned professional certifications in strategy and innovation from MIT s Sloan School of Management, project management from the University of California at Berkeley, and software architecture from the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon. Brutch also holds seventeen U.S. patents. Brutch holds strong technical credentials from both professional and academic perspectives. Her experience includes IoT, mobile and web technologies, cloud computing,

2 PAUL CALAMITA Partner, Technology Consulting As a partner in RSM s Technology Consulting practice, Paul Calamita has more than 20 years of business consulting experience working with organizations in the financial services, consumer, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. He has worked extensively with middle market and Fortune 500 organizations on engagements related to finance and operations, technology solutions, business transformation, merger integration, and complex project and program management. Calamita has led the system selection process for integrated finance applications for clients. He has also managed successful implementations of ERP and CPM solutions for both domestic and global companies, coordinating the work efforts of both functional and technical teams, supporting modification specification and design, interface development, and data conversion requirements along with change management, user training, and application rollout. Additionally, he has managed the assessment and redesign of finance/back office processes, leveraging industry best practices, coaching executive teams and client managers through the assessment, redesign, and implementation of new organizational structures, systems, and operating models, ensuring success in reaching timelines and project milestones. Prior to joining RSM, Calamita was with Protiviti for more than four years. Earlier in his career, he worked for two Big Four firms. He is a licensed CPA in Connecticut. He earned an MBA from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor s degree in accounting from Southern Connecticut State University. BETSY CONROY Global Marketing Communications Manager The Siemon Betsy Conroy is the global marketing communications manager for Siemon, a leading manufacturer of high quality, high performance IT infrastructure solutions established in 1903 and located in Watertown. Conroy has more than 17 years of experience in the IT industry, and prior to joining Siemon, she provided freelance writing and marketing consulting services to a

3 variety of manufacturers, designers, and installers in the industry. Well versed in network cabling infrastructure and related standards, Conroy has written several articles and white papers covering premise and campus copper and fiber cabling systems for data centers, intelligent buildings and industrial facilities. She has served as editor of an industry magazine and as a contributing writer for several other industry publications. Conroy holds a bachelor s degree in English from Mount Holyoke College. BRIAN FLAHERTY Senior Vice President, Public Policy Brian Flaherty is senior vice president, public policy at CBIA. In leading CBIA s public policy division, Flaherty is responsible for the association s government affairs, grassroots, research, and communications operations. Before joining CBIA in 2015, Flaherty was vice president for public policy and external affairs at Nestlé Waters North America, a division of Nestlé, Inc., where he oversaw the company s government relations, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement activities. Prior to joining Nestlé, Flaherty was an eight-term member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing Watertown, Middlebury, and Woodbury. He served five of those terms as Deputy House Minority Leader. Flaherty received a bachelor s degree in politics with a minor in communications from Fairfield University. PETE GIOIA Vice President & Economist Pete Gioia oversees CBIA s economic and public policy research, tracking trends in Connecticut s manufacturing sector, international trade, business growth, profitability, and workforce development. A frequent speaker at conferences and seminars, Gioia is also a regular guest on programs concerning business and public policy issues. He manages several economic and public policy conferences throughout the state and is CBIA s expert on government fiscal issues.

4 Prior to joining CBIA, Gioia was a senior consultant with KPMG, a researcher for The Futures Group and the Criminal Justice Education Center, and a budget analyst for the Connecticut General Assembly s Office of Fiscal Analysis. He also worked with the Institute of Social Inquiry s Connecticut Poll and was Connecticut Team Captain for USA*NAFTA. Gioia is a past president and member of the Hartford Area Business Economists, a former board member of the New England Economic Project, and a past economic advisor to Gov. M. Jodi Rell. He holds a master s degree with distinction in public affairs from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor s degree in history and economics from Hobart College. BOB HULTGREN Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Reliable Automatic Bob Hultgren has been employed by the Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co. Inc. for 31 years. Reliable is a privately-owned company engaged in fire sprinkler manufacturing and with three successful generations of family ownership. During his tenure, the company grew from $30 million in revenue to over $350 million. In 2004, Reliable made the most significant strategic decision in its history and relocated its manufacturing operations to Greenville, SC from Mt. Vernon, NY. A state of the art 300,000-square foot manufacturing facility was completed in Continued growth has resulted in full utilization of existing space and a 150,000-square foot addition is currently in progress. Employment in South Carolina is about 650 people and is 1,050 company-wide. Hultgren began his career in 1977 with PwC in Stamford. While employed there he became a CPA in Connecticut. From 1980 to 1986 he was employed by Amax Inc., a diversified mining company based in Greenwich. CHRIS JONES Principal, Technology & Management Consulting Chris Jones brings over twenty years of experience in ERP implementations. Currently, he is a technology and consulting

5 management principal at RSM, where he leads the integration of technology solutions for the manufacturing industry. Jones works with a diverse range of companies, including growers, processors, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to provide value-added solutions, primarily in the business development, operations management, strategic planning, and business and technology consulting functions. He specializes in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (formerly Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics CRM) within the consumer products industry, mainly food and beverage, as well as the manufacturing and distribution industry. GEORGE MITCHELL, JR. Vice President, Operations Product Centers Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin George Mitchell is responsible for leading the manufacturing operations that make and assemble aero structures, avionics, blades, and dynamic components. He also leads Sikorsky s maintenance repair facilities for military and commercial products. The product centers manufacture the components and assemblies used to build helicopters for customers in assembly and flight operations and to service aftermarket customers. The product centers have 2,700 employees located in seven domestic and international locations. Mitchell s additional responsibilities include the enterprise sales, inventory and operations planning process, material logistics, and subcontractor management. Previously, Mitchell was vice president of military aircraft and support, responsible for all aspects of aircraft platform management, including technology roadmap and field service operations. He was also vice president of the SAS Military Customer Support group, accountable for $1.3 billion of U.S. Government and foreign military aftermarket sales and product support. Prior to serving in these roles, Mitchell was the general manager of the Military Aircraft Assembly Center and the chief manufacturing engineer on the S92 and Comanche programs. Mitchell has four U.S. patents associated with the manufacture and tooling of aerospace transmission components. He has been published by the American Helicopter Society and

6 has received several customer, company, and community service awards. He is board chair of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce and a corporator for the Valley United Way and Lower Naugatuck Boys and Girls Club. He holds a bachelor s degree in industrial technology, manufacturing and a master s degree in organizational management from Central Connecticut State University. GREGORY VETTER Principal, Risk Advisory Services Greg Vetter is a principal in the risk advisory consulting practice at RSM with more than 20 years of experience assisting clients in solving their business and information technology-related challenges. Vetter has supported the IT, finance, compliance, and audit functions in achieving important business goals. With specific focus on information protection and compliance, Vetter is the RSM national leader for RSM HIPAA and HITRUST services. He has assisted in the development of an IT risk assessment to evaluate asset risks and to process strengths and weaknesses in compliance with NIST 800 G. Vetter assessed HIPAA privacy and security rule compliance for a large cancer center, reviewing the program in place to manage compliance within security and privacy rules, and evaluating the organization s ability to meet rule requirements. He also assessed the design and configuration of network security for a large hospital system and its related research and educational affiliates. The assessment included vulnerability scanning, attack and penetration testing, configuration review, policy review, and program management review. Vetter holds a bachelor s degree in accounting from St. John s University. JOE VORIH President Omega Engineering, Joe Vorih is president of Omega Engineering, Inc. a pioneer in the design, manufacture, and distribution of process measurement and control products. Vorih s priority has been to transform Omega from the bestknown direct provider of process sensors into a web-based global partner for complete process measurement and control solutions,

7 including innovative wireless and IoT-ready offerings. A manufacturing and technology industry visionary, Vorih has a proven track record leading businesses to new levels of growth. As president of CLARCOR Engine Mobile Solutions, he transformed the organization with a focused effort to serve the needs of original equipment manufacturers, launched several breakthrough programs, and opened a new manufacturing and sales presence in India. Previously, Vorih served as senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Stanadyne, where he oversaw the successful shift of the company from a traditional equipment supplier to a broad technology solutions partner. He started his career with Danaher Corporation, eventually serving in a variety of leadership roles in Danaher Motion a diverse industrial automation and motion control business. He holds bachelor s and master s degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. ANDY WARREN Assurance Partner Andy Warren has more than 20 years of experience providing assurance and consulting services to domestic and global middle market technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and distribution and consumer products companies. With a focus on helping clients grow and achieve their goals, Warren identifies impactful industry trends, develops relevant strategic plans, and assists in plan implementation. His background is in multiple industry sectors including licensing, e-commerce, direct-to-consumer and cross-channel combinations. Warren also has extensive experience with international sourcing and maquiladora operations. Warren is a certified public accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a bachelor s degree in business administration from Woodbury University.

8 JEFF WHITE Partner Jeff White is a partner who provides counseling and dispute resolution advice for manufacturers and distributors. He chairs the firm s Manufacturing Industry Group and regularly represents clients throughout the U.S. and globally. In 2013, he created and launched the widely read Manufacturing Law Blog, which was one of the first blogs in the country to address legal issues facing manufacturers and distributors. disputes with suppliers, vendors, and other business partners without resorting to litigation. In addition to representing large global companies, White also serves as outside general counsel for several mid-sized, privately held companies (many are family-owned), including several manufacturers and distributors that have business operations throughout the world. His experience is wide-ranging, as he has provided business advice on issues such as product development, product recall, workplace safety/ OSHA, contracting/terms and conditions, supply chain issues, and conflict minerals compliance. White has represented several Fortune 50 manufacturers in the global aerospace, chemicals, and consumer product markets. His experience includes productrelated class actions, product liability prevention and litigation, supply chain disputes (including with long-term agreements that range from hundreds of thousands of dollars to several billion dollars), intellectual property disputes, and environmental matters. White routinely uses his litigation and business experience to counsel companies that wish to assess and/ or resolve business-to-business
