1 2016 Board Nominee Bios Denise Borland Trade Center Management Associates Denise Borland is a Sales Manager for Trade Center Management Associates (TCMA) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center where her target market is associations. Denise also resides on TCMA s recently formed Leadership & Innovation Committee. Denise s ethical and practical approaches to bringing in new business and her collaborative efforts within the association market have brought interesting and innovative long-term partnerships together within the local region Prior to working at TCMA, Denise held multiple roles within the hospitality industry for 10-years while working for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Remington Hotels. Denise is an alumna of Sonoma State University, and graduated with a degree in Marketing. Denise was born and raised in San Jose, California, and has lived San Diego, CA; Barbados; Alexandria, VA; New Bern, NC; and Chicago, IL before returning to the Washington, DC metro area in 2013 with her husband, Randy, and their son Logan. Denise is Co-Chair of Special Interests for the Andrews Spouse s Club, member of the Alexandria Soccer Association, member of the Special Event Sites Marketing Alliance (SESMA), and volunteers with the Junior Friends of the Campagna Center. She is a frequent patron of local businesses, restaurants, and festivities in Old Town Alexandria and the rest of the Washington, DC area. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and participating in the wide-range of outdoor activities this area has to offer. Travis Cutler External Affairs Representative with Dominion Resources Inc. Travis currently has responsibilities associated with several of Dominion s business units, including interstate natural gas transportation, merchant and regulated electric power generation, as well as electric transmission and distribution operations. As a member of Dominion s Government Affairs team, Travis s primary focus is working with elected officials to execute the company s key policy objectives, facilitate approval of

2 critical infrastructure projects, and resolve constituent issues. Travis represents Dominion on a number of boards and committees throughout the DMV region. He serves on the Boards of the Southern Maryland College Access Network, the Southern Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Johns Hopkins University Energy Policy & Climate Student Council. He is a member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce s Energy and Environmental Policy Committee, and a 2015 Fellow with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute in Washington DC. A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, he received his Bachelors Degree from Virginia Tech and his Masters Degree in Energy Policy from Johns Hopkins University. Travis currently resides in Arlington, VA. Kyle Green, The RAIL Group Kyle is a founding partner of The RAIL Group with more than a decade of experience in policy intelligence, regulatory management, and business development. He has served in numerous technical and communication management positions, including as project manager and business development professional for a privately owned government contractor. Additionally, Kyle deployed as both a Civil Affairs and Intelligence Specialist with the United States Marine Corps, managing several million dollars in district-level projects that were instrumental in population re-integration efforts. Kyle has a deep passion for pro bono work and regularly volunteers for several local organizations, including Ainsley s Angels of America and Tahirih Justice Center. He is the President of George Mason University's School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs Alumni Chapter and serves on the Board of Fairfax County's Oversight Committee on Drinking and Driving. Kyle earned his Master of Public Administration from George Mason University and holds a M.A. in International Commerce and Policy from the same school. He received a B.A. in Intelligence Operations from American Military University and has multiple industry certifications including Project Management Professional, Certified Business Consultant, and Certified Business Management Expert.

3 Angela Hartley National Industries for the Blind -- Executive Vice President and Chief Program Officer. Angela Hartley is executive vice president and chief program officer at National Industries for the Blind (NIB), where she leads a team of professionals devoted to creating opportunities for people who are blind through world-class workforce training and development. Since joining NIB in 2002, Ms. Hartley has led diverse initiatives and assumed new challenges throughout the organization in the areas of government relations, corporate communications, strategic planning and direction, human resources, marketing, compliance and regulatory affairs, fundraising and program development. After serving NIB initially as director, external affairs, Ms. Hartley was promoted to vice president, communications and public affairs, and later to vice president, external affairs and public policy. Ms. Hartley was named executive vice president before assuming her current position. Her accomplishments at NIB include consolidating public relations and marketing functions to drive consistent messaging; expanding the organization s involvement and reach in government affairs; strengthening NIB s network of contacts, coalitions and partnerships; and developing an award winning management training program for high-potential professionals. She works closely with NIB s Board of Directors on strategic and business planning, as well as ethics and governance matters. Prior to joining NIB, Ms. Hartley served as director of external affairs and general counsel for Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, an NIB associated nonprofit agency. Earlier in her career, Ms. Hartley participated in several entrepreneurial and small business ventures. A Certified Association Executive (CAE), Ms. Hartley received a Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate from the Georgetown University Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law, a Master of Business Administration from Salisbury University s Perdue School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, El Paso. Ms. Hartley is a member of the Maryland State Bar, American Bar Association, Public Relations Society of America, American Society of Association Executives, Women in Government Relations and Leadership Greater Washington. She is a member of the World Blind Union s Employment Working Group, which launched Project Aspiro, a career planning and employment website for people who are blind or partially sighted, service providers, friends, family and employers. Ms. Hartley serves as Governance Chair on the board of directors of DC Bilingual Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., and on the advisory council for the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Employment Outcomes for Individuals who are Blind or Visually Impaired, an initiative of the National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision at Mississippi State University. 5 Laurie MacNamara A principal and director with Booz Allen Hamilton She serves on the senior executive leadership team of Booz Allen s Financial Services practice. Her professional career has spanned both federal government service and federal contracting operations. Laurie s career focus has been to build a strong quantitative analysis and information technology background; she has worked in technology and analytical areas, including IT portfolio management, capital planning, cost modeling, and business case development as well as the management of largescale IT application development programs and projects. Currently Laurie leads business development and client delivery at several key financial regulators for Booz Allen, including the U.S. Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to joining private industry, she was appointed as a Presidential Management Fellow and completed leadership training through the prestigious Fellow program. Laurie s extensive federal government and federal contracting experience gives her a rich understanding of the opportunities and challenges of heavy municipal reliance on federal government spending. A 28 year resident of Alexandria, VA, Laurie has held multiple leadership positions in civic and political organizations in the city, and is well-known for her connections to key local and state business and political leaders. Active in Alexandria s civic affairs, she serves on the City Council-appointed Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee and on the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce s Government Relations Committee focused on economic development, planning, transportation, and workforce development issues. Previously Laurie served on the City Council-chartered Business Tax Reform Task Force where she developed specific tax policy recommendations. Laurie also serves on the board of directors of several national- and local-level nonprofits, including First Night Alexandria. She is a former president of the Del Ray Citizens Association. Laurie holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in political science and Spanish from Muhlenberg College, a M.A. in Law and Diplomacy in international economics and finance from the Fletcher School, Tufts University. Laurie and her husband Bill Hendrickson live in the Del Ray section of Alexandria with their daughter, a fourth-grade student at Matthew Maury Elementary School.
