7 Conference Speakers Melinda Wharton, MD, MPH Director, Immunization Services Division, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Dr. Melinda Wharton received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. Dr. Wharton joined CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in 1986 and was assigned to the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment in Nashville, TN. In 1989, she began work as a medical epidemiologist in the Epidemiology Program Office, CDC. She joined CDC s immunization program in 1992, and since that time has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. From 2006 to 2013 she served as Deputy Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. In December 2013 she became the Director, Immunization Services Division, NCIRD. Paul Offit, MD Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases; Director, Vaccine Education Center, Children s Hospital of Philadelphia Paul A. Offit, MD is the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Offit also serves as a Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is the co-inventor of the rotavirus vaccine, RotaTeq, recommended for universal use in infants by the CDC. He has authored numerous books and is a strong voice in favor of vaccines. Diane Thielfoldt Learning Strategist and Co-Founder, The Learning Café Diane Thielfoldt is the co-founder of The Learning Café where she works with clients to bridge the workplace generation gap, develop outstanding leaders, create successful mentoring initiatives, and transfer missioncritical knowledge.
