1 GEORGE SHENOY Associate Professor of Law (Practice) BCom (Madras), LLB, LLM (Bombay), PhD (London) Capsule Biography George Shenoy is the Practice Associate Professor of Law in the School of Law, Singapore Management University. He graduated with a BCom from the University of Madras. He then took up law and graduated with an LLB (First Class) from the University of Bombay. He subsequently obtained his LLM degree from the same University. He was later awarded the Visiting Research Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, London. He obtained his PhD from the University of London. He has considerable experience both in the academia and the industry. He has been in the legal academia for over four decades teaching a wide range of courses both at the Undergraduate and the Master's level. He taught in the Faculty of Law, University of Bombay for well over a decade exclusively at the Master's level and taught in the MBA programme of the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University for over a decade since its inception. He has taught Undergraduate courses for over two decades at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University. His industry experience includes his appointment as the Legal Advisor to Siemens Limited on a full time basis for 7 years with countrywide responsibility for India. He is the Editor (jointly with Loo Wee Ling) of Principles of Singapore Business Law (Cengage Learning, 2 nd Edition, 2013). He is also the Editor (jointly with Gary Chan) of Ethics and Social Responsibility: Asian and Western Perspectives (2 nd, International Ed., McGraw Hill, 2011). He contributed 8 Chapters to Halsbury's Laws of Singapore, Vol.6 on Company Law (LexisNexis, 2006 Reissue). He is also the editor of Principles of Law for Engineers (Prentice Hall, 2001), Legal Aspects of Doing Business in Singapore (with Toh) (Addison-Wesley,1996) and Law of Rights and Obligations of Business in Singapore (Addison-Wesley, 1996). He was on the Editorial Board of Journal of Enterprising Culture ( ) and was an Associate Editor of Asia Business Law Review for over a decade since its inception ( ). Over the years he has worked in and chaired various committees in the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University and in Lee Kong Chian School of Business as well as in the School of Law, Singapore Management University. He has done extra mural courses for the industry and has been an Examiner in law for important professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA and ICSA for many years. 1
