1 Monthly Event Summary The 43rd Joint Conference of ROC-Korea and Korea-Taiwan Business Council CIECA News Letter No. 68 / May 2018 The Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) held the 43rd Joint Conference of ROC-Korea and Korea-Taiwan Business Councils on the morning of May 10 at Far Eastern Plaza Hotel, Taipei, which is chaired by Chairman Chuang, Suo-Hang of ROC-Korea Business Council, CIECA and Chairman Park, Keun-Tae of Korea-Taiwan Business Council, FKI. Representative Ting Joseph Shih of Taipei Mission in Korea, Deputy Minister Yang, Tzu-Pao of the Ministry of Culture, Representative Yang, Chang-Soo of Korean Mission in Taipei, and Vice Chairman Kwon, Tae-Shin of FKI were invited to address the opening ceremony. There were 120 participants from both sides at the meeting. The 17 th Joint Meeting betweencieca and MNCCI The 17 th Joint Meeting between the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) was held on May 23, 2018 at a Conference Hall of MNCCI building, Ulaanbaatar. The Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. B. Lhagvajav, President of the MNCCI and Mr. Lin-Wu Kuo, the Chairman of Mongolian Committee of 1

2 CIECA. 170 participants from both sides attended the meeting. Mr. Kuo-Jung Huang, Representative, Taipei Trade and Economic Representative Office in Ulaanbaatar and Mr. Ulziisaikhan G., Vice Director, Mongolian Foreign Ministry Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, were invited to deliver greetings at the opening ceremony. Mr. Robert OuYoung, Chairman of ANKO Food Machine Co., Ltd., made a presentation on Add Value with Taiwan Food Machinery, and Mr. Chin-Sheng Chiu, Vice President of MiTAC Information Technology Corporation, made a presentation on Smart City & ICT Development and Vision in Taiwan, and Mrs. Su-Chen Hung, Executive Vice President of Small and Medium Enterprise Credit Guarantee Fund of Taiwan, made a presentation on An Introduction to SME Credit Guarantee Mechanism in Taiwan, and Mr. Day-Yang Liu, Vice President of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, made a presentation on Taiwan s Technological and Vocational Education: Past, Present and Future at the plenary session. Meanwhile, Mr. L. Batnasan, Director of food Production Promotion Council under MNCCI, delivered a speech on Pure Nature White Gold and Dr. T. Naranmandakh, Chief-Secretary to the Board of Commission of CRC of Mongolia, delivered a speech on ICT Sector Development and Smart City Initiatives in Mongolia. After the meeting, Taiwan s delegation also made courtesy calls on Mongolia s most famous companies, included Khaan Khuns Co., Ltd., Mungun Guur Hospital, APU Company and Gobi Cashmere Factory. 3 The B2B of the 17 th Joint Meeting between CIECA and MNCCI on May 23, Taiwan Economic and Trade Delegation to Austria and the Czech Republic Smart Machinery and Green Tech inspires industrial transformation CIECA formed the 2018 Taiwan Economic and Trade Delegation to Austria and the Czech Republic took place on May 26th to June 3rd, focusing on industries including Smart Machinery, Green Technology and ICT. The delegation was lead by Honorary Chief Delegate, Ms. Mei-Hua Wang, Vice Minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Mr. Jui-Hsiung Yen, Chairman of Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders Association and Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd. The 11th Austria-Taiwan Economic Cooperation Conference was held in Vienna, co-organized by CIECA and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO). Participants from both sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in Smart Machinery and Green Energy. On top of the conference, the delegation also visited Graz, Austria to explore business opportunities esteemed companies and associations such as Magna Steyr, Green Tech Cluster and ACstyria Mobilitätscluster. The 16th Session of the Czech-Taiwan Joint Business Council took place in Prague, co-organized by CIECA and Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, focusing on Smart Machinery, Smart Logistics and Green Energy. Besides the council, the delegation also visit esteemed Czech companies including LINET a.s., Škoda Auto, HE3DA and TGS. The delegation enabled Taiwanese companies to gain a better understanding on the Austrian and Czech market and initiated new opportunities for international trade and industrial transformation and cooperation. 3

Reliable Source Industrial also sharied their investment experience in Haiti. There were 50 participants from Taiwan to joined this event, most of them are enterprises, more business opportunities between Taiwan and Haiti could be expect in the near future. The Haiti Investment & Business Opportunity Forum The Haiti s delegation led by the President SEM Jovenel MOÏSE visited Taiwan during May 28-June 1, to create more business and investment oppotunities between Taiwan and Haiti. CIECA held the Haiti Investment & Business Opportunity Forum at Grand Hyatt Hotel 3F, Grand Ballroom II, at the night of May 29, chaired by Mr. Henry Kao, Chairman of CIECA. Haiti s President SEM Jovenel MOÏSE and our Vice Minister of Foreign Affair Mr. José María Liu both made their special remarks to encourage Taiwan s entreprises to invest Haiti. Mr. Roger Yeh, President of Everest Textile and Mr. Chris Yui, Chief of Staff, Mr. Henry Kao, Chairman of CIECA, delivered his special remarks on the Haiti Investment & Business Opportunity Forum. Upcoming Events of CIECA 27 th Joint Economic Cooperation Meeting between CIECA and FTI CIECA will be holding the 27th Joint Economic Cooperation Meeting between CIECA and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) on June 27 th at the Taipei World Trade Center Club. The new chairman of FTI, Mr. Supant Mongkolsuthree, will be leading a delegation and jointly preside over the conference with Chairman Pan, Wen-whe, Thailand Committee, CIECA. (CEO, 4

The conference agenda will feature Smart City, Smart Manufacturing and Internet of Things in coordination with the Silicon Valley of Asia program from the government s five innovative industries plan. VP Maurice Chang, HIWIN Technologies Corp.; Director Charles Wu, TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. and Dr. Brian Lin, Associate VP, Total Solution Center, Cloud Services and IT Solutions Business Unit, MiTAC Information Technology Corp. will be delivering presentations and conference attendees can explore related business opportunities. 5
