3 ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS Bob Weidner Bob Weidner is President and CEO of the Metals Service Center Institute, a $10 million, century-old trade association representing producers and distributors of aluminum, carbon and stainless steel. Since joining the association in 2001, he has fiercely advocated for North American manufacturing and the use of industrial metals. Under his leadership, MSCI successfully completed a turnaround strategy, grew its revenue from $4 million to $10 million, and transformed its membership nearly 60% of members at year-end, 2015, weren t members at year-end, This makeover included a merger with the former National Association of Aluminum Distributors and expansion of membership category definitions. MSCI launched numerous new proprietary products and services including: an executive education program at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, several quantitative and analytical tools, and a partnership with the National Safety Council. MSCI is an active member of several Coalitions advocating on behalf of manufacturing and free enterprise. Working with its 30 chapters, MSCI engages in grass roots advocacy and has a joint scholarship program, which has granted nearly $5 million to nearly 2,500 children of member company families Prior to joining MSCI, Weidner was a seasoned business executive with corporate turnaround experience in manufacturing, metals and food distribution. Weidner holds an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University. Bob has successfully completed the Professional Accounting Program at Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Weidner is a graduate of the Culver Military Academy and a past Director of the Culver Legion Board of Directors. 4 Dennis DesRosiers Since the founding of his independent consulting practice in 1985, Dennis DesRosiers has become Canada s leading auto- motive industry analyst and one of the foremost theorists in the North American automotive industry. Over the years, he has developed a multi-task, multi-functional and indepth approach towards automotive industry analysis, which has resulted in his theories gaining considerable prominence throughout the North American industry. Dennis has been described as an analyst who peels away the mysteries of the automotive industry. He has accomplished this by developing unique and original analytical models and also by not being afraid to make interpretive statements and draw conclusions, which, in some cases, run contrary to accepted wisdom in the industry. Dennis election in September 2000 to the Board of Governors of The University of Windsor enables Dennis to focus his developmental efforts and practical skills in an important knowledge and learning environment. Chris Montgomery Chris Montgomery currently serves as the Manager, E&P Engagement for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, the voice of Canada s upstream oil, oil sands and natural gas industry. In this capacity, Chris leads CAPP s stakeholder engagement efforts in communities impacted by oil and gas development, outside the Athabasca oil sands region, and acts as a CAPP media spokesperson. Prior to joining CAPP in 2013, Chris spent more than a decade working in Ottawa in various roles in federal politics, most recently as Director of Parliamentary Affairs to the Leader of the Government in the Senate where he was responsible for advancing the government s agenda through the Upper House of Parliament. He has also served the Leader of the Government of the House of Commons, a Member of Parliament and, as the Manager of Political Operations (Western Canada) for one of Canada s major political parties. Chris is a recipient of The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

5 Joseph Galimberti Joseph Galimberti been the President CEO Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA); since May CSPA is our national voice of Canada s 15 billion Steel Industry.Prior to joining the CSPA Joseph held positions as Vice President, Public and Corporate Hill + Knowlton Strategies Canada, Director of Community Relations at Air Canada. He also served in various capacities with the Government of Canada. Additionally Joseph is on the Board of the Victoria Event Centre, a coowner of Broad Street Cycles in Victoria B.C., a former Board member of National Airlines Council of Canada and a former Trustee on the Board of Pearson College. Joseph lives in Ottawa with his wife Heidi and their twin sons Jonah and Bennett Rory Johnston Rory Johnston is a Commodity Economist covering energy and metals markets in Scotiabank s Economics Department. His ongoing research includes the Scotiabank Commodity Price Index (a monthly assessment of developments affecting the prices of major Canadian export commodities), contributions to Scotiabank s Global Outlook (the Department s flagship quarterly forecast), as well as Commodity Notes on various topics of interest to the Canadian commodity sector. Rory previously worked with Scotiabank s International Economics Group on global energy and infrastructure issues, writing on topics ranging from the Petrocaribe oil alliance to the expansion of the Panama Canal. Rory holds a graduate degree from the University of Toronto s Munk School of Global Affairs and a bachelor s degree in political studies from Queen s University. Peter Warrian Dr. Peter Warrian is a Distinguished Research Fellow, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. He is widely recognized as Canada s leading academic authority on the Steel Industry. In 2016 he published A Profile of the Global Steel Industry (2nd Edition) and in 2017 he published, with Mike Smitka, A Profile of the Global Auto Industry. Both books are available from Amazon. He was formerly Research Director of the United Steelworkers of America and Chief Economist of the Province of Ontario.
