3 MEDIEVAL BOWS Catalogue of instruments The medieval bows I made are based on those in the miniatures of the B.j.2 e T.j.1 codex of Cantigas de Santa María, by King Alfonso X, "the wise". The bows are made with European wood; they never lose tension. The horsehairs are always black. Despite its primitive appearance with them you can play any Renaissance or Baroque piece; these bows are very elastic and admit any kind of bowstroke. 5 Catalogue of instruments RENAISSANCE BOW My Renaissance bows are the result of the study and development of varios iconographic sources, mainly paintings of the fifteenth anc sixteenth centuries. They are made with European woods. Black hairs. The hairs can be loosen with the clip-in frog.
