2 The Reintroductions The Collation of e Greek New Testament This brings us to e Textus Receptus readings which have been reintroduced into e modern Greek New Testaments. The Nestle s 26 edition being our case-in- point. Kurt Aland & Co. simply could not refute e hundred-and-fifty year old findings of a German pastor. Thus, wi e publishing of e 26 edition of e Nestle/Aland Novum Testamentum-Graece ey had to bow to e good German doctor, von Soden, and reinsert numerous readings at had earlier been removed wi reckless abandon by Westcott & Hort loyalists. This will also be found to be true of Nestle s edition whose text is identical to e 26. Succeeding editions will need to be examined for compliance. On e following pages you will find a collation of each of ese reintroductions, documented and presented in an understandable format. At e conclusion of each book of e Bible e total number of changes for at book will be given. The sum total will be given in e final pages of is work. Please understand, e reintroduction of ese readings does not mean at e modern editions of Nestle s text are on parity wi e Textus Receptus or at ey can be trusted. There are still innumerable corruptions which have not been corrected. These reintroductions simply illustrate at Bible-rejecting scholarship has been forced to admit it was wrong and concede to e superiority of e Textus Receptus in ese cases. The Format For ease of reading and comparison ere are four columns per page. Column #1. The King James Bible This first column consists of ree bits of information. First is e chronological number so at e reader can quickly identify how many readings have been reintroduced into each book. Next is e chapter and verse reference for each reintroduction. Third is e word/words of interest. In some cases, such as Matew 14:10 and 29, it will be noted at e King James Bible does not slavishly adhere to e Textus Receptus. These are not included to cast doubt on e King James Bible. They are included because Nestle/Aland & Co. had seen fit to alter e manner in which ey handled em between e 25 and 26 editions. This work is documenting e Textus Receptus readings at have been reintroduced into e later editions of e Nestle/Aland Novum Testamentum-Graece, not e King James Bible readings. 23

The Textus Receptus In most cases, excepting ose such as Matew 14:10, 29 mentioned above, is column documents e Greek word/words representing e corresponding English word/words in e King James Bible. Column #3. Nestle s 25 This column illustrates e word/words altered from e Textus Receptus in e 25 edition of e Nestle/Aland Novum Testamentum-Graece. In some cases is change is noing more an one letter, such as Matew 22:16, levgonte~ vvversus levgonta~. In oers it is e insertion of an entirely different word, such as Matew 22:10, gavmo~ versus numfw;n. As mentioned earlier, e auors did not decide which changes should be included in is work. They may not have considered e mere change of one letter as important enough to include. But each reading was included based solely on one criteria, if it had seemed important enough to e editors of e NA to remove and to en reinsert it into e NA and later editions, it was important enough for us to include and count it in is work. We only counted e changes, we did not choose how to define what a change was. We left at up to e editors of e Nestle/Aland text. Column #4. Nestle s 26 Alough is column is listed as Nestle 26 it could just as well been listed as Nestle since e text of ese two editions is identical. Most likely is tru will apply to e subsequent Nestle 28, Nestle 29 etc. The reader is reminded rd here at e text of bo e 3 and 4 editions of e United Bible Societies Greek New Testament are also identical to ese two editions of e Nestle/Aland text. Therefore e reintroductions made between e 25 and e 26 editions of e Nestle/Aland texts would also apply to e UBS and e UBS and UBS. The Next NA and UBS texts Alough is writer has speculated at e Nestle 28 and Nestle 29 and, 5 for at matter, e UBS and so on would read e same as ose preceding em is may not be completely accurate. In e introduction of e NA Kurt Aland informed his readers at it was his desire at any future changes to e Nestle/Aland text be made for e purpose of bringing e text more in agreement wi e Roman Caolic Church. 24

4 The Reintroductions On page 45*of e introduction of e NA, in referring to e textual union between e UBS The Greek New Testament and Nestle s Novum Testamentum - Graece Aland plainly states, The text shared by ese two editions was adopted internationally by Bible Societies, and following an agreement between e Vatican and e United Bible Societies it has served for e basis for translations and revisions made under eir supervision. This marks a significant step wi regard to interconfessional (read at ecumenical ) relationships. (Emphasis mine) This admission of seeking Roman Caolic approval rouses no guilt in e unregenerated heart of is weaered scholar. Yet it is e veiled hint of possible pro- Roman Caolic alterations to future texts at should chill e blood of any Bible believer. It should naturally be understood at is text is a working text...it is not considered to be definitive, but a stimulus to furer efforts toward defining and verifying e text of e New Testament. It is still a work in progress. There will be changes to e text in a future edition. What will ose changes be? Well, after stating at he wanted agreement wi e Vatican and attesting at his text was not a final auority he proceeds to infer at e changes he s speaking of are already in house but for some reason wouldn t be accepted if issued at is time. He continues, For many reasons, however, e present edition has not been deemed an appropriate occasion for introducing textual changes. (!) Behind all at Bill Clinton-like verbiage, what Dr. Aland is saying is at he and e United Bible Societies want to merge wi Roman Caolic scholarship and issue an edition of e Greek New Testament at makes all, raer an some, of e changes Rome desires, and at if such a project were issued today ere would still be too much resistence in scholarly and evangelical circles. When such a text makes its debut it will probably be heralded as an exact representation of e original and will be officially recognized by e Vatican. I can guarantee you at such a pro- Roman text is not only in e making but may already be finished and awaiting 25

Wheer it will be called Nestle s 28, 29 or 30 edition, it will coincide wi a similar UBS 5, 6 or 7 edition and will read according to e Vatican s mandate. By deleting e Majority Text readings from e edition, Aland has set e stage so at in e future no one will en be able to verify e actual readings of any disputed passage. Thus, ey won t be able to verify what e opposing witnesses testify. Neier will ey be able to illuminate e Roman Caolic changes because ere will no longer be anying to compare e Nestle to. It and e UBS Greek New Testament will read e same and anyone comparing e two against each oer will only be duped into inking ere have been no changes. One will lie, e oer will swear to it. Hang on to your 25 & 26 editions! The critical apparatuses in em contain manuscript testimony at will never be available again. The Summary At e end of each book is a summary of e total number of reintroductions for at particular book. At e end of is work ese summaries will be tallied to give e total number of Textus Receptus readings which have been reintroduced into e 26, and succeeding, editions of e Nestle/Aland Novum Testamentum-Graece. 26
