1 The LinkedIn Outsource Report How to Set Your LinkedIn Marketing Efforts on Autopilot By James Wedmore
2 Part I: HOW to REALLY Succeed With LinkedIn OK, I know exactly what you re thinking: I don t need another thing on my to-do list! In fact, the very thought of starting and then maintaining another platform on social media; finding groups to join; actively engaging and working to build a network of people that someday might be valuable to your business; creating the perfect profile page that says and does all the right things without innocently doing some major faux pas that will get you tarred, feathered and banished from the LinkedIn neighborhood, is enough to tempt you to stick your head in the sand and just hope it all goes away. But here is the reality. Social Networks are not going away. And just as word of mouth and being introduced to the right people was important in those simple days of the past, so is social networking today. Don t let the technology blind you to the fact that LinkedIn is packed with busy professionals, just like you, that want a way to connect with the right people without all the travel, airport pat-downs, and 3-day seminars with gooey baked goods. Business moves fast. And today s technology can not only help you quickly meet, build relationships, and form lucrative deals with people that you have never met face to face, but also enable you to execute your projects by enlisting the help of a talented, cost effective work force that is located all around the globe. What am I talking about? Outsourcing. You see, just like you, I don t have the time or energy to spend doing all those little things online that have to be done to compete and succeed today. Yes, I know they are important but what I ve learned is that anything in my business that doesn t completely energize me can be done by my Outsourcing team. And YES you can do this too. And YES they can help get your LinkedIn Strategy up and running. In this report, I m going to show you exactly where I go to find these Outsourcers. You see, I want you to succeed. And the only way to do that is by fully embracing that one piece of information that is missing from virtually every online business course that you ve invested in.
3 You see, all those training courses are great at telling you what you need to do, right? But when you stack that training course with all of the other training courses that you have, you quickly see the problem. Each marketing and business building step is important but there is absolutely no way that one person (YOU) has the time, energy or skill to do all of them. So I have a question for you: Do you REALLY want to SUCCEED in your Business? I know, this seems like a ridiculous question, right? You have an online business of course you want to succeed! You want to live the dream that you were sold on when you started your online business. You know the dream: Make Money in Your Sleep Enjoy a 4-Hour Work Week Earn a 6-Figure Income in your Pajamas Travel the World while you Earn a Living on Autopilot Set it and Forget It But wanting to succeed is much, much different than actually believing that you will succeed and then taking the actions necessary for that success. If success were merely a matter of want then everyone with an online business would be a gazillionaire. But that s not the case! Why? Because making money online takes a lot of work! And, I m going to go out on a limb here. What I m about to say may make a lot of you uncomfortable or even a little mad, but unless you take action and start to Outsource your online business You Are Not Serious About Success! Are You Following the Law of Success? Everybody has their own definition of what Success means to them. It could be a certain amount of money, it could be a certain amount of freedom in your life to do what you are passionate about, or it could be achieving a certain goal.
4 Only YOU know what it means to be successful, but I know what it takes to be successful with your online business. And the reality is this: The longer you allow yourself to remain in the role of wearing all the hats in your business, the longer it will take for you to achieve success and grow You are the visionary for your Business! In order to reach the level of success that is reserved for the most successful in your field, you have to re-train your brain. Rather than asking, How can I learn how to do this? or Where am I going to find the TIME to do this? Ask, How can this get done with the least amount of Energy and Effort on my part? Outsourcing is NOT about being lazy; it s about focusing your efforts on the Big Picture, CEO type activities of your business. Success = Definite Purpose + Organized Effort You Don t Want ACTION You Want Results! Every guru out there tells you that you just need to do it, just need to take action to succeed. But at the end of the day, you don t really want Action you want Results. Results happen when you know where you want to go, create a viable system for getting there, and then harness the energy and talents of other people so everything is done as quickly and efficiently as possible. This has always been true. However, with the speed of the internet it s even more important that you act fast. As entrepreneurs, we are always full of new ideas, right? Wouldn t it be great if you had the ability to take a new idea and not only get it down on paper before you forgot it, but also had the ability to implement the idea into your wellplanned system in a matter of hours or days instead of months, years, or never! How many ideas could you implement and start to make money on if you had a team with a system ready, willing and trained to do every part of the project needed? And remember, this is your team putting in the energy and work to implement the tactics and strategies to run an online business YOUR online business. The tweets, the posts, the videos, the syndications, the data collection, the inputting, the designing, and the list of steps goes on. What if you could make a lot of money (ethically, of course) without taking a whole TON of action would that be ok? Of course it would!
5 You DO Want a STRATEGY and a SYSTEM The LinkedIn course developed by Lewis Howes is a great Strategy. You hold that in your hands right at this very moment. If you don t, then I have a link for you below so you can get this powerful LinkedIn system. Now, all you need is a system to put that strategy into play that takes YOU out of the busy work as much as possible. So right now, I m going to show you where to go to find your VA and Team that is going to help you harness the power of LinkedIn for your business. Then, I m going to take you one step further and show you exactly how to expand that system into your entire business so that it really can run like a well-oiled machine. It s the same system I used to build my team of 6+ that exclusively work for me every day, building my business and allowing me to build that internet lifestyle that I enjoy today. Hey, I started from the same place you did and if I can do this, so can you! Where are All the Outsourcers? Everywhere! This list is not meant to be complete. There will be new sources, and some local sources, that you will also want to use.
6 This is a paid service that assists you in finding Virtual Assistants in the Philippines. The benefit is that they offer you a convenient online job board of sorts where you can post your job, and thousands of capable workers in the Philippines can find you and offer their talents to you. Once a candidate is located, then it s up to you to interview, train, and manage them. At this writing you can pay on a monthly basis or a yearly basis and the prices start at $49 for a single month. You can subscribe for a single month (there is no contract) and allow them to help find a VA for you then cancel the subscription until you need it again. This is where I suggest you start to find that right-hand man or woman that will be your full-time VA, or virtual assistant. You can easily hand them the process map that I m including in this report and they can start adding those LinkedIn marketing tasks to your business. Don t be fooled into believing that just because the hourly rate for this Outsourcing will be around $2-$3/hour that you won t be able to get a talented person. That s just a myth. The biggest thing you must understand is that their local economy is different from yours. They don t have the same level of expenses that you do, so they can live on much less per day than you or I do. Also, don t pay attention to stories of outsourcers that just disappear. In the training presentation that you will be taking at the end of this report, I ll show you exactly how to get the best employees, train them, communicate well, and have a great experience with building your own team.
7 Odesk is another great source. It s free to post a job and you will be the one that goes through all the applicants to determine the best match for you. Odesk will take a small fee once your worker is paid; however, it s not a fee off the top. What I mean by this is that if you hire someone to complete a project for $15.00, then when it comes time to pay the outsourcer you will pay $ Odesk will take their percentage from that amount and the outsourcer will get the balance. They have a couple of features that are very useful. One is the ability to short-list all the applicants that look good to you. For example, you may post a job to have someone edit a video for you. Let s say that 50 applicants respond to that job posting. You can quickly scan through them and mark any that catch your eye. Later, you can go back to just the ones that you marked and look closer at their qualifications, work experience, feedback, etc. and then send them an to start the interview process. The other cool feature is that your outsourcers log into the system when they are working on your task. As they work, screenshots are taken of what they are doing. This allows you to monitor their work. At the end of the week, Odesk will let you know how many hours your outsourcer has worked, give you a report of how much time they worked each day, and then allow you to approve the time. You also have the ability to give your outsourcer a set number of hours they can work each week. One thing to be aware of is the hourly rate that the applicant has on their portfolio. For the most part, you can disregard this! A better gauge for determining a fair payment rate is to see what kind of work they have already done and what they were paid. Also, know what your own budget is and the going rate for that particular project or job whether it s full-time and ongoing or a one-time deal. There are three areas on the Odesk platform that you can use to see how well that applicant may work for you. But here s the thing: it s just a general rule of thumb. Remember, you are hiring a person. So, look for enthusiasm, work ethic, desire to learn, and quick responses. The skills can be taught and learned. But the character and eagerness to do great work cannot. Feedback: What kind of feedback are they getting? Some may have extensive hours logged in so see if they have a lot of repeat employers and that the ratings are good. If you have someone with a string of 5 hour projects, then you may want to work them into a 200 hour project if you think they are a good match rather than dump the whole project in their lap right away. Also, look at the skills they used for the jobs completed. Are they what you need as well? Portfolio: This is their online resume. Take the time to review it to be sure that their past work will match what you re looking for. If they have done some design work or created
8 websites, check out what they did. Remember that they did the work based on the client s specifications, so something you find hideous may be more a reflection of the taste of their client rather than their talents. It s a good idea to start with a small project and let them showcase their unique talents. Hourly Rate: Take it with a grain of salt. Ask yourself if the rate makes sense. Also, if you see that their hourly rate has steadily risen (remember, look at the actual work they did) then they are proving that they can do the work their employers are asking for. Over time, you should give perks to your steady, long term outsourcers. This could be an increase in their hourly rate, or it could be periodic bonuses. And, don t be hesitant to bonus a one-time project when the outsourcer went above and beyond what you asked for. You don t have to break the bank to do it and it doesn t always have to be monetary. You can send them equipment they may need (like a laptop or headset) or something more personal (like paying for their wedding) I ve done both! If you prefer to find someone in the states, this site is a great resource where you can find talented women with incredible education and work experience, who have decided to work from home. You can expect to pay anywhere from $10/hour and up; however, there are times when you may need someone with their talents. Spend some time on the site and see if you find a part-time or full-time match for your needs.
9 Part II: WHAT to Outsource on LinkedIn In this second part, we are taking an indepth look at Linkedinfluence 2.0 and how each module can be outsourced to your newly hired Virtual Assistant. If you do not currently have Lewis Howes LinkedInfluence 2.0, this following section will not make any sense. I went through Lewis entire program and pulled out actionable homework that you can give to your Virtual Assistant to make things easier for you. Require VA to Watch Module #1 Training Have your Virtual Assistant watch the Module #1 training videos so they get a better understanding of the layout and functionality of Linkedin.com. 2. Share Your Latest Blog Posts (Module 1.1) 3. Export Your Contacts (Module 1.2) Anytime you want to mail your list, you can simply ask your V.A. to export your LinkedIn contacts and import them into your marketing software (I recommend icontact.com for this) Your VA should be exporting/importing for YOU! 4. Add Connections (Module 1.2) Your V.A. can Import contacts from your address book, past colleges, workplaces, etc with the click of a button.
10 5. Manage/Filter Messages (Module 1.3) As you get more and more popular on LinkedIn, you ll want to have your VA be your first line of defense against unwanted and unsolicited messages. Use your VA as your mini-gatekeeper who can spend a few minutes a day filtering the important messages and sending them directly to your inbox. 6. Accept ALL Connection Requests (Module 1.3) Let your VA go in and accept connection requests for you. 7. Customize Your Linkedin Profile URL (Module 1.5) Have your VA set up your custom profile URL to your name 8. Set up a Schedule for Giving Recommendations (Module 1.6) I still recommend that you write real and custom recommendations yourself. But anything you can do to systemize this process and have your newly hired VA send out the recommendations for you will take back time from your busy schedule. 9. Sync Your Twitter Acount with Linkedin (Module 1.7) Have your VA manage/sync your Twitter account for you Module #2: Connections & Groups 1. Create Groups/Categories (Module 2.1) Have your VA organize your contacts into relevant categories for you Note: You can only send messages to Categories of 50 people or less 2. Add Your Linkedin URL to Your Web Properties (Module 2.1) Use your VA to add your Linkedin URL to your blog, website, signature and other social networking sites 3. Join Groups (Module 2.2) Have your VA search for an join related groups based on your keywords, targeting and focus. Have your VA do just a few groups per day on a consistent basis. 4. Set Welcome Message (Module 2.3) Your VA can upload your welcome message and help create your custom squeeze page to build your list! Module #3: Traffic & Apps 1. Share Posts to Your Group News Feed (Module 3.1) Everytime you post a new article, blog post or video, make sure to post it to YOUR Group s News Feed!
11 2. Have Your V.A. Set Up Your Apps (Module 3.2) Your VA should set up the following apps: The Wordpress Blog App The Twitter App The Slideshare App The Amazon Reading List App 3. Have your VA Scan LinkedIn for Related Questions (Module 3.4) Have your VA look through the LinkedIn Answers for related questions that you can answer. Module #4: Company Pages & More 1. Add Your Company Page to Linkedin (Module 4.1) Have your VA create a Company Page for you 2. Manage Your New Company Page (Module 4.1) Make sure your VA also updates and maintains your Company Page for you so it looks fresh and current Alright, now you have this quick blueprint for LinkedIn that you can either do yourself (in addition to everything else in your business.) or be smart and hand off the daily tasks to your right-hand man or woman that you hired to help grow your business. Which is it going to be? A really smart marketer once said this is an interview (You may have heard of him Rich Shefren?): You can look at your whole business as a system. Generally what I find with most entrepreneurs is, the ones that are working really, really hard, the reason they are working so hard is they re the constraint. In other words, their business is going to do as much business as they are willing to do the work because that s the way they set it up. What changes the whole paradigm, what makes you able to actually make a lot more and work less is to remove yourself as being the constraint by removing yourself from having to touch everything, oversee everything and do everything. And when you do that, what happens is that the business can grow without you having to do everything, and when that happens, you end up working less and the business makes more. It s not like some complicated
12 thing. What it really is, is that the way people structure their businesses is that they always structure it in a way where they are the constraint. Be Honest will you continue to be the constraint in your business? Or are you ready to let go and let your business grow? Yeah that s what I thought! If you had an extra 1, 3, or 5 hours each day, how are you going to use them? But before you grab the sunscreen and Panama hat, consider this: Invest your time back into your business! Block out time each week for additional training to keep your skills sharp and learn new skills that will help your business grow. Read, read, and read! All of the top CEO s have this habit. Plan take a 30,000 foot view of your business and figure out your 3-month, 6-month and 1 year goals. Research see what else is going on in your niche or in your related niche. You may be able to recognize a rising trend or an opportunity in a related field. You can outsource a huge chunk of this resource and then take time to analyze it in view of your business goals.
13 Meet new people. Ok, here is where you may be able to pull out that sunscreen if you attend an event in an exotic location. But even here, use your time wisely and go with a purpose (meeting people that you may be able to partner with) and then be sure to follow up after the event so that it s worth your time and travel. And you can follow up and continue to grow that professional contact on LinkedIn.
