2 Course Objectives The goal of this course is to provide college students (not in Mechanical Engineering background) with the basic concepts and principles of Engineering Drawing. Course Objectives Understand what s the drawing means. Practice basic Engineering Drawing. Use AutoCAD to complete a 2D Engineering Drawing. Use Autodesk Inventor to complete a 3D Engineering Drawing. 2

7 Definition (From Wikipedia) An engineering drawing is a type of drawing that is technical in nature, used to fully and clearly define requirements for engineered items, and is usually created in accordance with standardized conventions for layout, nomenclature, interpretation, appearance (such as typefaces and line styles), size, etc. Definition (From Wikipedia) The process of producing engineering drawings, and the skill of producing them, is often referred to as technical drawing. 7
