1 Introduction to the Hack This is a Shadow Hack conversion of the free Shadow Mission SMH :Free Taiwan. It is not a standalone scenario; you will need the original Free Taiwan for play. You can obtain it for free at You can download the free Cortex Plus rules to Shadow Hack at: This is a conversion document that serves to introduce the Shadow Hack rules by converting an existing Shadowrun Mission to Cortex Plus. This means that you can test the rules and see how they compare to the original Shadowrun rules for speed, style and ease of use. This is not a complete document though and you will need a copy of SMH :Free Taiwan mission that is freely available at Please feel free to provide feedback (good and bad!) at the Shadow Hack forums at Feyd

2 Preparing the Adventure Follow the advise on page 2 of the Mission. As is always the case with published missions, take time to understand each of scenes works and how they flows into the next. To use this Hack with the mission, the best approach is to print both documents, use the original but include this hack for the game statistics. The changes to the original mission are documented for each scene so you can insert them into the original as appropriate. Run Milestone Everyone in the runner team can take the following Milestone: 1 XP when you perform an action to track down the Free Taiwan. 3 XP when you get a clue to the location of the Free Taiwan. 10 XP when you recover the Cargo and return it to your Mr Johnson. Scene 1: Reservations Threat Pool: 2d6 No change to this scene. Scene 2: Surf and Turf Sweets McGordon Attributes: d6 Roles: Face d8 (others d6) Distinction: Keen Negotiator, Street Dealer, Elf Stress: d8 Defiance EX Shocker (d6), Mental Stress If they want to negotiate with Sweets (either of the 2 deals) treat as a social conflict, and what they get depends on the stress/conflict that the runners put on Sweets Deal 1: d6=500yen, d8=1000 yen, d10=2000 yen, d12=3000 yen. Deal 2: d6=500yen, d8 add 1000 yen, d10=2000 yen, d12=3000 yen. Stepping up beyond d12 increased the gear value by 2000 yen Observer Triad Thug Attributes: d6 (Normal Goon) 2

6 SCENE 4- All Aboard Threat Pool 2D6 Defeating the ships Sensors requires the runners to create a complication of at least equal to the ships sensors (d8) to avoid detection. Use the Threat Pool as normal to resist. If the runners fail then use 1d6 out of the threat pool to set off the alarm (as described on page 9) Every 10 minutes use the ships sensor to try and detect the runners.
