Navy and Oregon will meet for the first time on Saturday at 1:00 PM (PT)/4:00 PM (ET) at Pape Field. Live statistics and free live video will be available on NavySports.com(.) No. 18 Navy won a third straight Patriot League Tournament Championship last weekend, defeating American, 14-7, in the semifinals before taking care of Holy Cross, 18-11, in the league title game. Navy was the No. 1 seed and host of the league tournament after winning the regular season title with a 6-0 record. This is Navy s third straight year playing in an NCAA Play-In contest and the first on the road. Navy defeated Sacred Heart, 12-2, in 2010 and beat Quinnipiac, 20-5, in The NCAA Play-In matchups are based on last season s conference RPI rankings. CAA-champion Towson is hosting Monmouth (Northeast) and Atlantic 10-champion UMass is hosting Canisius (MAAC) this weekend. The winners of the three play-in games will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament along with five other conference champions (America East, American Lacrosse, ACC, Big East and Ivy). Eight at-large schools will added to complete the tournament s field of 16. The NCAA Selection Show is Sunday, May 6 at 9:00 PM (ET) and will be streamed on NCAA.com(.) Navy fell to No. 3 North Carolina, 18-5, in the NCAA Tournament s First Round in 2010 and lost to No. 1 Maryland, 19-6, in the first round last season. Junior attacker Jasmine DePompeo, the two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, leads Navy and ranks seventh in the nation with 81 points on 37 goals and 44 assists. DePompeo s 44 assists are the ninth most in the country and are the Navy single season record. Freshman attacker Loren Generi (Bayport, N.Y.), the 2012 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, is second on the team with 52 goals and is third with 59 points. Generi has a school record 112 draw controls this season, a number that ranks as the fourth most in NCAA single season history. Generi needs just two draw controls to take sole possession of second place and is currently 14 shy of Dana Dobbie s (Maryland -2008) NCAA record of 126. As a team, Navy ranks sixth in scoring offense (15.21), sixth in scoring defense (8.00) and fourth in draw controls per game (15.79). Navy had had more draw controls than its opponent in all 19 games this season. Head coach Cindy Timchal has Navy off to its best start in its five-year history. Navy s 17 wins this season matches the 2010 team s total (17-4) and the Mids have had winning streaks of 10 and seven (active) this season. Timchal was voted as the 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year and is a finalist for this year s US Lacrosse Hall of Fame induction class. Young, Gennaro Lead Navy to Tournament Title Junior attacker Kathy Young (Berwyn, Pa.) and sophomore attacker Aimee Gennaro (Berwyn, Pa.) each scored seven goals to lead Navy to an win over Holy Cross in the 2012 Patriot League Championship game. The

Player of the Year Jasmine DePompeo Verbeeck went 2-0 in the league tournament and is 7-0 on the season with a 7.54 GAA and a.479 save percentage. Navy became the first team to win three straight Patriot League Tournament titles since the league began postseason play in Mids Break Into National Rankings One day after winning the Patriot League Tournament Championship, Navy moved into the national rankings for the first time in The Mids received 20 voting points to tie for No. 18 with Princeton in the April 30th edition of the debeer Media Poll. This is the fifth time Navy has been ranked in the debeer Media Poll all-time and the No. 18 ranking matches its program-high. Navy also appears at No. 15 in the latest NCAA RPI Rankings, the team s best showing. With a Win Over Oregon Navy would advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 3rd straight year. Navy would set a program season record with 18 wins. Navy would improve its all-time record to Coach Timchal would improve her all-time record to Coach Timchal would advance to her 24th NCAA Tournament Scouting Oregon Oregon won its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament title last Sunday with a win at Stanford. The win over the Cardinal, Oregon s ninth in a row, snapped Stanford s seven-year run as MPSF Champions. The Ducks are not ranked in either national poll but do appear at No. 24 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. Oregon is 14-4 overall and, like Navy, went undefeated during its conference regular season (7-0). The Ducks have three players who have scored over 50 points in Nikki Puszcz (37-18=55), Kristina Barrett (29-24=53) and Shannon Propst (32-19=51). Twin midfielders Jana and Jess Drummond also factor into the offensive scheme. Jana Drummond has 43 points (32-11) and a team-high 54 draw controls while Jess Drummond has 33 points (27-6) while leading the team in ground balls (30) and caused turnovers (21). Goalie Carolina Federighi is 14-3 with a 9.13 GAA and a.496 save percentage. Federighi was named the MPSF Tournament s Most Valuable Player after going 2-0 with a GAA and 8.00 saves per game last weekend. Jana Drummond, Barrett, Federighi and defender Colleen Taggert were named to the MPSF All-League First Team. Puszcz, Probst, Jess Drummond and Lara Bennett were named to the all-league second

4 team and head coach Jen Larsen-Beck was tabbed as the MPSF Coach of the Year. Navy is 1-0 against teams from the MPSF this season and is 5-1 against the conference all-time. The Mids defeated MPSF-member California, 15-5, in Annapolis on March 28. Oregon defeated Cal twice this season. The Ducks defeated the Bears, 10-9, in the regular season and in the MPSF Semifinals. As a whole, the Patriot League went 3-0 against MPSF schools in Looking Ahead: The 2012 NCAA Tournament A win would give the Midshipmen an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Head coach Cindy Timchal was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year, junior attacker Jasmine DePompeo (Sayville, N.Y.) earned a second straight Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year award and freshman attacker Loren Generi (Bayport, N.Y.) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year. DePompeo was joined on the all-league first team by junior midfielder Kathy Young (Berwyn, Pa.) and senior defender Kierstin King (Upperco, Md.). Generi was named to the all-league second team along with freshman midfielder Jess Fellows (Vienna, Va.) and senior defender Dominique

5 Wright (Washington, D.C.). Additionally, DePompeo, Young, King and sophomore midfielder Jill Coughlin (Annapolis, Md.) were selected to the Patriot League All-Academic Team. Generi Climbing NCAA Draw Control Chart Freshman Loren Generi (Bayport, N.Y.), the 2012 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, is climbing the NCAA single season draw control record book. DePompeo leads Navy with 81 points this season on 37 goals and 44 assists. In 2011, DePompeo tallied 99 points on 57 goals and 42 assists. Along with Erin Rawlick s offensive player of the year award in 2010, Navy has won the top attacking honor three straight years. DePompeo s Statistics Yr. GP/GS G A Pts / / / Total 59/ King Breaks Second School Record Earlier this season senior captain Kierstin King (Upperco, Md.) became Navy s career leader in ground balls when she passed 2011 graduate Caitlin Mandrin Hill with her 130th career ground ball. King now has 150 and is also Navy s leader in career starts (70). Senior goalie Elaina Ponchione (Silver Spring, Md.) also has a pair of school records of her own. Ponchione is the school s all-time leader in career saves (375) and goalie wins (46). Young tied Erin Rawlick s school records for most freeposition goals in a season (17) and most in a career (36). DePompeo is five assists shy of Mandrin Hill s career school record of 96 and has matched her own single season record of 42. Timchal Named Patriot League Coach of the Year Navy women s lacrosse head coach Cindy Timchal was named the 2012 Patriot League Coach of the Year award, her first such honor in her five years in the conference. Timchal owns a career record of (.793) over 30 seasons and is (.781) while at Navy. Timchal became the first college lacrosse coach to win 400 games earlier this season and was recently named a finalist for the 2012 US Lacrosse National Hall of Fame. Timchal has guided Navy to back-to-back Patriot League Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. Navy s Senior Class Navy s six-member Class of 2012 has won more games than any other senior class in program history. Below is a look at some of the impressive feats the class has achieved. Navy went 39 straight days without a loss, before the programrecord winning streak ended at No. 1 Northwestern on March 25. During the 10-game win streak, Navy outscored its opponents, , for an average score of 16.5 to 7.1. As of April 23, Northwestern was still ranked No. 1 in the country at 14-1 and High Point was 12-3 overall and sat in first place in the National Lacrosse Conference at 6-0. Since the loss to Northwestern, Navy has won seven straight games. Navy Third in Wins Over the Last Five Years Since its first year as a varsity program in 2008, Navy has won 75 total games, a number that ranks the Mids tied for third in the country in total wins during that span. The game was Navy s seventh game against a ranked opponent in the last three years and the fifth against a top-five team. Timchal Named Hall of Fame Finalist US Lacrosse recently announced that Navy women s lacrosse head coach Cindy Timchal is one of 24 finalists on the 2012 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame men s and women s ballots. From these ballots, the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame men s and women s voting committees will select the 2012 induction class. US Lacrosse will announce the inductees prior to Memorial Day weekend. The 12 women s finalists are: Timchal, Jen Adams, Kelly Amonte Hiller, Quinn Carney, Julie A. Dayton, Missy Foote, Elaine Knobloch, Leslie Blankin Lane, Sarah Nelson, Carin Peterson, Susan Billheimer Phillips, and Maggie Vaughan. Timchal coached Adams, Amonte Hiller and Carney at Maryland. King Becomes Navy s All-Time Ground Ball Leader Senior defender and team captain Kierstin King (Upperco, Md.) scooped two ground balls against Robert Morris to become Navy s all-time ground balls leader. King picked up her 130th ground ball, moving past 2011 graduate Caitlin Mandrin Hill (129 career ground balls). King earned All-Patriot League First Team honors in 2011 and was a womenslacrosse.com All-American in King s Year-by-Year Ground Ball Totals Total 150 Defending Champion Navy Picked First in Preseason Poll Winners of the past two Patriot League Women s Lacrosse titles, Navy has been picked to take home its third in a row in 2012 as the Mids were the unanimous choice of opposing coaches and sports information directors in the sport s preseason poll. Navy claimed 72 points and all 12 first-place votes from the other six schools, as coaches and sports information directors were not allowed to vote for their own team. Colgate, who won last year s regularseason title, followed with 61 points and two first-place votes. Lehigh placed third with 53 points, and was followed in order by American (41), Holy Cross (28), Lafayette (27) and Bucknell (12). Navy junior attack Jasmine DePompeo was voted as the Patriot League Women s Lacrosse Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, earning a unanimous selection from opposing coaches and sports information directors. DePompeo Adds National Recognition on Tewaaraton Award Watch List Navy women s lacrosse junior attack Jasmine DePompeo has been named to the 2012 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. DePompeo is one of 53 women s lacrosse players on the initial list and the only Patriot League women s lacrosse player. The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the best men s and women s college lacrosse player in the nation. No. 4 American, 14-7 April 27, 2012 The top-seeded Navy women s lacrosse team (16-2) defeated American (7-10), 14-7, on Friday evening at Navy- Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in the league semifinals to advance to its fourth straight Patriot League Championship Game. Navy will play Holy Cross on Sunday at 12 noon. Holy Cross defeated Colgate, 13-12, in the second semifinal.

7 Sophomore attacker Aimee Gennaro scored four goals and first-team all-conference midfielder Kathy Young added a hat trick to pace Navy s offensive attack. Junior goalie Michelle Verbeeck made eight saves to improve to 6-0 on the season. All-conference second-teamer Jess Fellows opened the game s scoring with an unassisted strike just over a minute in and Young followed with a free-position goal as Nayv took a 2-0 lead. After the Eagles registered an eight-meter tally, sophomore midfielder Jill Coughlin and junior attacker Jasmine DePompeo, the 2012 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, keyed a 3-0 run. Coughlin scored the first goal, followed by a strike from DePompeo and then DePompeo assisted on another Coughlin finish as the Mids pulled ahead, 5-1. American got back on the board just one minute later, but Gennaro caught fire, scoring three straight goals for the Mids, before back-to-back American tallies to pull within 8-5 with three minutes to go in the half. Navy gained possession and let some time count off the clock before setting up its offense, which led to Young scoring an unassisted tally with 26.9 seconds to go. Junior midfielder Beth Young controlled the ensuing draw and DePompeo found the back of the net with just 1.5 seconds showing on the first half clock as Navy took a 10-5 lead into the locker room. The Mids carried the momentum from its late-half surge into the second, with Gennaro scoring her fourth goal of the game three minutes in. Young then scored, followed by a goal from Fellows just 26 seconds later to put Navy ahead, 13-5, with 21:25 remaining. American scored twice in the next five minutes, but a free-position goal by Patriot League Rookie of the Year Loren Generi ended the game s scoring with more than 13 minutes to go. Navy was able to control possession for the majority of the remaining time as the team ensured it would play for a third straight league title. Navy outshot American, 28-18, and held a edge in draw controls. American won the battle of ground balls, 9-7, and both teams committed seven turnovers. No. 3 Holy Cross, April 29, 2012 Led by seven-goal performances from junior Kathy Young and sophomore Aimee Gennaro, the Navy women s lacrosse team (17-2) won its third straight Patriot League Championship by defeating Holy Cross (10-8), 18-11, on Sunday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Young and Gennaro now share the Patriot League Tournament record for most goals in game (7) and Gennaro broke the record for most goals in a tournament (11). Young was chosen as the Patriot League Tournament s Most Valuable Player and was joined on the all-tournament team by Gennaro, freshman attacker Loren Generi and junior goalie Michelle Verbeeck. Young scored 10 goals over the two-game tournament and established a new career-high with her seven goals on Sunday while Gennaro matched her personal high. The seven goals are one shy of the Navy single-game record. Both Gennaro and Young took nine shots on the game, all of which were on goal. Young also added three draw controls while Gennaro had two ground balls. Young increased her career goal total to 131, moving into second place on the school s all-time list. Young also leads the team with 57 goals this season and the all-league firstteamer makes her first appearance on an all-tournament team. Both Young and Gennaro scored three goals in the first half and four in the second. Gennaro scored the game s first goal and then Young scored three of the next four as Navy jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Gennaro would add two more goals in the second half, with one coming with 24 seconds remaining as Navy took an 8-4 lead into the locker room. The duo then keyed two important runs in the second half as Navy pulled away from Holy Cross. Gennaro scored twice and Young once in a 3-0 run that opened Navy s lead to 13-6 and then the Philly-area tandem both scored twice in a 4-0 spurt over just 2:16 as the Mids increased its lead to 17-8, its largest of the game. Senior Danielle Vivonetto scored Navy s final goal with 1:31 remaining for the team s 18th of the day, a new league championship game record. Generi, the league s rookie of the year, controlled eight draws and Navy led in the category. Generi has 112 draw controls on the season, which is the Navy school record and the fourth-best total in NCAA history. Junior attacker Jasmine DePompeo and freshman midfielder Jess Fellows each scored three points. Verbeeck improved her season record to 7-0 by making four saves in the contest. Junior defender Brijet Mall had a solid game defensively, with two ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls and senior defender Dominique Wright caused two turnovers.
