1 Solving Sstems of Equations Eample 1: Emil just graduated from college with a degree in computer science. She has two job offers. Kraz Komputers will pa her a base salar of $0,000 with a $500 raise each ear that she works there. Pear Pads will pa her a base salar of $35,000 with a $1,000 increase each ear that she works there. How man ears would Emil have to work at Pear Pads to make the same salar as she would if she were to work at Kraz Komputers? Let equal the number of ears that Emil works at a compan and let be her salar. Write an equation to represent the salar for each job. Kraz Komputers: 0, Pear Pads: 35,000 1,000 Use a graphing calculator or graphing software to graph the two equations. The ordered pair (10, 5,000) is the intersection of the two lines. In other words, after 10 ears Emil would make $5,000 at either job. Eample : The state fair is a popular field trip destination. This ear the senior class at Sunnside High and the senior class at Riverside High both planned trips there. The senior class at Sunnside High rented and filled 8 vans and 8 buses with 0 students. Riverside High rented and filled vans and 1 bus with 5 students. Ever van had the same number of students in it as did the buses. Find the number of students in each van and in each bus. Define the variables. Let represent the number of students per van and let represent the number of students per bus. Write an equation for Sunnside High and Riverside High.
