2 RAJAR 2016 BBC 6 Music - 3 Month Weight Summary 2 Record reach for 6 Music at 2.24m. This was up by +34k/+2% on last quarter and an increase of +171k/+8% on the year. 6 Music remains the biggest UK digital only station. Record market share for the station at 2.1%; very marginally up by +0.1% pts on the quarter and up by +0.4% pts on the year. High average hours per listener at 9hrs 22 mins; the second highest ever for the station. This was up by + mins on the previous quarter and +59 mins on year. The highest for a digital only station. Average age of the 6 Music listener moves down to 40 years; -2 yrs on quarter and -1 yr on the year. This drop in average age is driven by a record reach among the younger 20-34s (our target indie-disco-ers) at 705k; significantly up on both the quarter (+1k/+18%) and the year (+5k/+17%). There was also a record reach among the 35-44s (688k listeners; +26k/+4% on Q and +1k/+23% on Y). 6 Music s profile has become slightly less male this quarter: 59% of our listeners are male (-2% pts on Q but +1% pts on Y). This shift is driven by a record reach among female listeners (9k listeners, +58k/+7% on Q and +52k/+6% on Y). Profile for network remains skewed towards ABC1s who make up 76% (-1% pts on Q) of listeners. Reach among BAME audiences is down on quarter but shows improvement on the year to 176k (down by -29k/-% on the Q but up by +72k/+69% on the Y). 6 Music saw its highest ever reach in the North of England and Northern Ireland this Q and potential impact of 6M festival shown in uplift in reach in SW: Reach moved to 527k listeners (+68k/+% on Q, +2k/+24% on Y) in the North and reach in Northern Ireland moved to 42k (+24k/+5% on Q; +22k/+1% on Y). There was also an uplift in reach in the South West of England (6 Music Festival was in Bristol) by +k/+% on Q, +7k/+% on Y) moving to 75k listeners. DAB remains the key platform for 6 Music with 68% of all listening on the platform (stable on quarter). There was an increase in listening through DTV to 9% (+4% pts on Q but stable on Y) and online to 23% (+3% pts on Q and +5% pts on Y)
