2 History ACS Industries, Inc. Diversified Manufacturing Since 1939 Beginnings 1939 American Copper Sponge Co. is founded by Peter Botvin in his Providence, RI basement. His original product is a knitted copper sponge for scrubbing pots and pans. This set the stage for ACS Scrubble Products Division, a North American leader in scouring products for the food service and janitorial industries Pearl Harbor is bombed. US commodities are redirected to the war effort and Peter can no longer purchase copper wire. Forced to close the business, he works in the Providence ship yards for the duration of the War With the War over and copper readily available, Peter restarts his machines and goes back to making scouring pads. Fresh out of the US Coast Guard, Peter s son George starts to work for him As mist eliminator sales begin growing rapidly, George hires ACS first separations technology engineer. Now based in Houston, TX, ACS Separations Technology Division supplies the petrochemical industry with a range of products from the most basic knitted wire mesh mist eliminators to highly engineered coalescers and fractionation trays ACS receives its first automotive purchase order for knitted wire mesh supports and seals for catalytic converter assemblies. Today, the ACS Automotive Division accounts for over half of all corporate revenues, supplying air bag inflator filters and exhaust components to all of the industry s major players. Early Growth 1947 George proves to be more than just a knitting operator. After less than a year on the job he shifts his focus to sales and starts adding new customers and product lines. The company relocates to a rented factory space in Providence, RI New products such as stainless steel mist eliminators and aluminum oil and grease filters account for a growing part of the company s revenues. As he earns the reputation of an ace salesman and entrepreneur, the younger Botvin starts taking over the business Peter Botvin passes away. His last contribution to the company was purchasing its first factory building in Woonsocket, RI, a city the company will call home until George becomes ACS President after his father's death. Vertical Integration 1939 Peter Botvin buys six Industrial Revolution-era textile knitting machines which he rebuilds to run copper wire. Since then, ACS has built over 750 knitting machines and countless other pieces of equipment in-house ACS installs its first fine wire drawing machines. Capable of processing stainless steel redraw wire to fine sizes, these machines set the stage for ACS current operation capable of drawing (5.5 mm) wire rod as fine as (0.043 mm) With several distinct product lines and a growing customer base, George changes the name of the company to ACS Industries, Inc ACS Internaciónal is established in Monterrey, Mexico to manufacture high volume automotive components while taking advantage of competitive labor rates. Today, ACS Internaciónal has over 1,800 employees working in nearly 1 million sq. ft. of manufacturing space ACS Industries (Shanghai) Co. LTD is established in Shanghai, China in anticipation of automotive OEM and Tier I manufacturers setting up assembly facilities in the Far East After 49 years in Woonsocket, RI, ACS moves its corporate offices and research and development operation to a state-of-the-art facility in Lincoln, RI. 4 Vertical Integration Our experienced craftsmen work with the latest equipment In-House Tooling & Equipment Production In 1939, Peter Botvin purchased six Industrial Revolution-era circular textile knitting machines which he rebuilt to run copper wire for scouring pads. Since then, ACS has produced over 750 knitting machines, virtually all of our tools and dies, as well as countless other pieces of production equipment. Today, ACS Monterrey, Mexico machine shop supplies the entire company with tools, dies and replacement parts. Wire Drawing Experience Makes for Better Wire Dies ACS Industries, Inc. is the world s largest vertically integrated wire mesh manufacturer. With over 50 years of wire drawing experience we feed our knitting operation with over 12 million lbs. of fine stainless steel wire per year. ACS draws its wire from (5.5 mm) wire rod to diameters as small as (0.043 mm) finer than human hair. Drawing wire in-house gives us the benefit of reduced raw material lead times, control over pricing and market fluctuations and the ability to provide the highest- quality wire products to our customers. 4 ACS draws fine wire from 0.217" (5.5 mm) wire rod.

5 Research & Development In March 2007, ACS Industries, Inc. moved to its new corporate offices and Research & Development Center in Lincoln, RI. ACS has the tools and expertise to engineer a broad range of products for a variety of applications. 12 Industries, LP Mesh and Vane Mist Eliminators Computer-Controlled Punch Presses A 36-Foot MisterMesh Pad Since the 1950 s, ACS Industries, LP has been a leading supplier of knitted mesh mist eliminators. For more throughput and efficiency with less pressure drop, our proprietary MisterMesh pads enhance drainage. Challenges such as fouling and high velocity are overcome by Plate-Pak vane-type separators. 13 Separations & Mass-Transfer Products Packing and Internals ACS is the sole licensee in North America for Julius Montz GmbH sheet-metal and wire gauze packing and associated internals. We also offer high-efficiency knitted mesh packing. For both structured and random packing, ACS produces numerous types of all required tower internals, including liquid distributors and redistributors, packing supports, bed limiters and chimney trays. Mesh-type Mist Eliminator Liquid Distributor Liquid-Liquid Coalescers These units separate immiscible liquids of differing specific gravities (such as water and hydrocarbons) using knitted mesh, Plate-Pak vanes, or both. Meshes with co-knit fibers coalesce extremely fine droplets. The results are impressive in terms of performance, compactness, and low cost in both process and marine applications. Design Expertise With over 50 years of engineering experience, ACS creates solutions for difficult separations problems. The results often utilize proprietary equipment and designs incorporating flow control devices, housings, supports and internals. ACS Industrial Non-Woven Material is manufactured in Monterrey, Mexico using nylon and polyester fiber. Today, ACS manufactures natural diamond, single-crystal synthetic and polycrystalline dies at our Shanghai, China facility. 15
