3 About Us Ben J Percival In the 1950 s Arthur William Lymn s son Harold decided that he would like to expand on the services offered to clients at the time of a bereavement to include the provision of a memorial following the funeral and so in partnership with Mr Ernest Smith, founded Ernest Smith, The Craftsmen in Stone. The business is now A.W. Lymn The Craftsmen in Stone, run by myself, one of A.W. Lymn s great, great grandchildren, we continue to produce high quality work across the East Midlands. Our aim is to make it easy for you to choose a memorial stone that is a fitting tribute to your loved one. Whether you choose a churchyard style memorial in a honed, matt finish, or one of our modern highly polished stones as the perfect background for your message of remembrance, you can depend on our commitment to quality. Included within this brochure is a range of specially selected memorials which have been individually designed for clients of A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service. All of the memorials shown are fully priced and include a number of sandblasted letters (as shown in the banner at the foot of each page) as well as fitting the memorial in a local burial ground by the current approved method, any flower containers as shown with a bunch of fresh seasonal flowers in each vase at the time of fitting and VAT at the current rate. We can also design a bespoke memorial to accommodate your specific requirements. 23 Kerb Type Memorials Kerb Type Memorials The following two pages show a selection of memorials designed for the traditional sections of our local cemeteries. The memorials are designed to cover the full area of the grave and most come with a concrete bed and stone or glass chippings. 34 Commissions A.W. Lymn The Craftsmen in Stone has, over the years, worked closely with various organisations to provide individual memorials and statues. It was a privilege to work alongside The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross Committee to produce a memorial commemorating all 20 Victoria Cross holders who were either born in, or laid to rest in Nottinghamshire. This was installed in the grounds of Nottingham Castle and was dedicated on 7th May It is the only county wide memorial in England at present. Commissions A.W. Lymn have worked for many years with St Barnabas Cathedral and in March 2015 we were honoured to replace all the existing memorials with one memorial that is pictured above. 34 A.W. 35 Commissions In 2010 our staff were involved with a project to commemorate the late Lance Corporal Kieron Hill who lost his life in Afghanistan fighting for his country in The memorial is situated in the heart of Clifton in a specially design memorial garden. A.W. Lymn The Craftsmen in Stone was honoured to be chosen to supply a York Stone memorial in memory to Fire-fighters and Civic Defence personnel from the City and County who lost their lives whilst on duty. The memorial was unveiled on Thursday 9th May 2013 by HRH The Princess Royal. In 2007 Lymn s Craftsmen worked with Our Lady s Convent in Loughborough to reproduce a statue of The Blessed Antonio Rosmini to be placed in the grounds of the newly built convent.
