Formatted: Bullets and Numbering 14.3 Approval of Agenda MOTION: Motion to approve the Bricklayer agenda dated June 12, M: Karl Heymann S: Frank Krauthaker Carried Approval of Record of Decisions dated January 15, 2008 MOTION: Motion to approve the Bricklayer Record of Decisions dated January 15, M: Frank Krauthaker S: John Stiles Carried Correspondence: Closed 14.6 Contact Information Update The Bricklayer Contact List was distributed to provide the PTAC the opportunity to advise any changes to their contact information. There was one change to the Contact List at this time Business Arising: Apprenticeship Training Coordinator (ATC) Update Shirley Walker, Registrar (continued) ATC Update: Shirley Walker reported the following statistical information regarding the Bricklayer apprenticeship program: - Number of Apprentices as of June 11, 2008 = 62 - Number of Pending Apprenticeship applications = 3 - Number of Senior Years Apprenticeship Option (SYAO) apprentices = 3 Interprovincial Exam Statistics: - Apprentices & Trades Qualifiers = 75% pass rate - Apprentices (1 st time writing) = 100% pass rate ACTION: PTAC support to update database with submitted information. 4 Agenda Item # Notes Decisions PTAC Membership Update: Shirley reviewed the current PTAC member s term dates. She read out the PTAC terms that are expiring in June 2008 and continued to report that PTAC applications are welcome year round and she encouraged the present members to advise her if they were aware of individuals that may be interested in serving on the PTAC in the future. Shirley confirmed that the maximum number of years that a PTAC member may serve is 6 years. PTAC applications were provided to some of the PTAC members upon their request Policy Unit Update Akosua Akosua informed the committee that the board outcome regarding the practical exams has been deferred until the September Board meeting. Akosua also informed the committee that the Board has reaffirmed the practice of recognizing in-school hours for students who fail a level of technical training. Previously, these hours had been recognized however the question was raised, and put to a few PTACs for consideration, as to whether these hours should in fact be recognized. The Board decided at the June Board meeting to continue to recognize the in-school hours of students who fail a level of technical training and affirmed that this applies to all trades. This decision is not a new policy change instead it is an affirmation of a previous practice Program Development Coordinator Update John Hample, Program Development Coordinator John facilitated PTAC review of the new Level One Placement Exam and incorporated committee suggestions for improvement of examination content.
