2 Graphics (2013) Sample work program Compiled by the Queensl Studies Authority March 2013 A work program is the school s plan of a course of study based on the relevant syllabus. Work programs allow for the characteristics of a school its students to be considered when implementing the syllabus. School work programs must demonstrate that syllabus dimensions objectives inform student learning. Work programs provide information about the school s plan for course organisation, an outline of intended student learning the assessment plan as outlined in the work program requirements for that syllabus. 2 Graphics (2013) Sample work program

7 Outline of intended student learning Sample problem process Design area: Built environment Lscape architecture Year 11, Semester 2 The problem An area of an existing park needs to be reed to provide a better environment for family picnics. A hardcopy graphical product, detailing the proposal, is required for community consultation at a shopping centre. Audience: Shopping centre patrons The dimensions objectives developed in the problem Dimension 1 Knowledge understing: explain problems using factors identify describe criteria comprehend graphical principles, procedures conventions. Dimension 2 Analysis : apply factors to develop ideas analyse interpret graphical information use graphical skills to produce graphical products for particular audiences. Dimension 3 Synthesis : synthesise ideas to develop solutions evaluate solutions graphical representations propose recommendations justify decisions. The students will experience these learning experiences while engaging in the process. Exploring problems: investigating the problem using the factors (user centred, elements principles of, legal responsibilities, technologies, strategies, project management, sustainability, materials) surveying the existing park to collect spatial data including the identification of existing services, features potential hazards accessing information from secondary sources (e.g. existing park s lscape architecture graphical products) to underst the nature of the park problem the graphical products required describing the needs of the local community park users describing the needs of the community consultation target audience analysing the graphical conventions for the lscape area evaluating how well existing lscape architecture meet needs identify possible improvements analysing graphical representations that could be best used for the area the problem establishing criteria based on the factors to evaluate the quality of ideas, solutions graphical products. Developing ideas: using factors to generate represent park ideas (e.g. annotated sketches ) evaluating park ideas in relation to the criteria selecting refining through sketches a park solution to satisfy criteria justifying decisions using annotation on sketches evaluating the proposed park. Producing graphical products: producing hard copy graphical representations for a the presentation at a community shopping centre Queensl Studies Authority October
