3 Background Challenge for Europe: Secure its energy and raw materials supply. Pressure on resources. Disruptions in supply have immediate impact on economy and foreign relations. Better knowledge about European resources is wanted in recent EC strategies.

4 Purpose of the project EuroGeoSource established in April 2010 to address these challenges. Will contribute to interoperability and harmonization on energy and minerals data in Europe. Will develop a web GIS system to identify, access and reuse aggregated geographical information on energy and minerals. Includes data from at least ten countries.

5 Funding Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), under the Policy Support Programme (PSP), Geographic Information Theme. EU contribution: EUR (50%)
