Corporate Real Estate Meadowhall Battersea Power Station We continue to advise Battersea Power Station Development Company Limited on the ongoing redevelopment of the 42-acre Battersea Power Station development site. Few landmarks are as instantly recognisable as London s Battersea Power station which, after 33 years of standing derelict is becoming one of the most important and innovative mixed-use developments in Europe, if not the world. It also boasts one of the most internationally desirable anchor tenants in Apple, whose move to consolidate its London footprint and take around 500,000 sq ft of space 40% of the total area within the iconic Power Station at Battersea has the potential to be truly transformative for the area, both economically and culturally. With the Apple pre-let initially being negotiated and eventually announced right in the eye of the Brexit storm, the deal has been a big win for the UK occupational market and has further enhanced London s position as a leading technology hub, firmly at the forefront of the dynamic tech economy. We have acted in respect of the Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield since its inception in The site currently incorporates 1.5 million sq. ft. of retail, catering and leisure space with over 280 occupiers generating annual rental income in excess of 85m. Finance Tax Elizabeth House, One Waterloo We advised HB Reavis, the international workspace provider, on its acquisition of Elizabeth House, Waterloo, by London s South Bank. Meadowhall is one of the most ambitious mixed-use retail and leisure developments in the UK - it has acquired real landmark status and won many awards. We were first engaged on the development in 1987 and have lived and breathed the site ever since. As one of London s key strategic sites for regeneration, the scheme was acquired with consent for a 950k sq ft scheme. HB Reavis has been working to bring forward fresh proposals for the site s redevelopment to a workspace-led scheme. Over the years Meadowhall has been sold three times, going from strength to strength. It is jointly owned by British Land. Throughout this time, our ability to understand the evolving market has underpinned our role in all asset management, construction and commercial matters. London has seen dramatic redevelopment in key boroughs and around the capital s dynamic transportation hubs. Elizabeth House is one of London s most complex and regenerative sites in what was a largely neglected area. While other strategic hubs saw huge amounts of redevelopment, Waterloo risked being left behind. The new scheme, for which we provided a full range of services from corporate, to planning to tax, is set to be truly transformative for the area, and a key piece in the South Bank puzzle that has a combined estimated value of around 10bn. The Centre continues to flourish and has benefited from significant investment over the last few years, and there are proposals for additional development that will further enhance its position as a world class retail & leisure destination in one of the UK s most vibrant regions. Acquisition Development Planning Construction Houses of Parliament Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal and Northern Estate Programmes Management We are advising the Joint Houses of Parliament on the 5.7bn Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal Programme and on the 700m Northern Estate Programme. These high profile, long term projects will see the complete renovation of the Palace of Westminster, a UNESCO world heritage site and Grade 1 listed building, and its surrounding 19th century buildings in the Parliamentary Estate. Our role to date has involved advising on all aspects of the major design and construction frameworks which have been put in place to deliver the projects, including the appointment of Wates Group as construction framework contractor for the Northern Estate.
