There are two teams of 11 players and is played on a cricket pitch with a bat, a cricket ball and stumps. What about these? Football, badminton, tennis, darts, rugby, ice-hockey, skiing and ice-skating. Have you any ideas how an ice-rink works? Viewing 1. The rink 2. Barriers How would work out the surface area of the ice rink? How would you work out how many barriers they need to go all around the edge of the ice rink? 3. Cooling the rink How would you work out how much glycol liquid they are going to use? What might be the total length of the pipes under the ice that the glycol will go in? 4. Adding water How much water will they use to cover the ice rink? 5. Building ramps Find some steps and work out how you would build a safe ramp up them. 6. Pipe in a crate How would work out the length of pipe coiled up in the crate? 7. Paying customers Have a go at working out how much money they might make during the skating season.
